NAME: Jon Gruden.

AGE: 55.

NICKNAME: Chucky Dwayne Harris Jersey , from 1980s horror movie “Child’s Play.”

CURRENT ROLE: Head coach, Oakland Raiders.

CAREER RECORD: 95-81 regular season, 5-4 playoffs.

BIGGEST COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Winning Super Bowl following 2002 season with Tampa Bay; leading Raiders to 2000 AFC championship game.

BIGGEST ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENT: Playing backup QB at Dayton.

TOUGHEST LOSS: Tuck Rule game. The Raiders seemed poised to reach the AFC championship game on Jan. 19, 2002, when Charles Woodson forced a fumble by Patriots QB Tom Brady that Greg Biekert recovered for Oakland in the closing minutes in the snow at New England. The call was overturned by replay because officials said Brady was trying to “tuck” the ball into his body. Adam Vinatieri kicked a tying field goal and the Patriots won in OT.

DELICATE DECISION: After turning around the Raiders with back-to-back division titles in 2000 and ’01, Gruden didn’t sign an extension and accepted a trade to Tampa Bay instead. Gruden won the Super Bowl in his first season with the Buccaneers, beating the Raiders for the title.

QUOTABLE: “That would be one of the coolest things in life, really.” — Jon on the possibility of coaching against younger brother Jay, head coach of the Washington Redskins.

NEW YORK — In the last few days Elandon Roberts Jersey , manager Aaron Boone has moved some things around with the lineup for the New York Yankees.

He moved Didi Gregorius up to third following a two-homer game Tuesday and slotted Greg Bird seventh.

One change not made by Boone was moving Gleyber Torres from the ninth spot, and it is likely the rookie second baseman will stay there again Thursday night in the opener of a four-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays.

In 44 games since making his major league debut April 22, Torres has batted ninth 35 times while getting four starts as an eighth-place hitter, two in the fifth spot and one apiece as a sixth and seventh-place hitter.

Although the Yankees dropped a 5-4 decision to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday and lost for the third time in 13 games, Torres hit his 12th homer. Each of his homers is out of the ninth spot, surpassing the team record set by Alfonso Soriano in 2001.

“I think his value in that nine hole is significant,” Boone said before Torres’ latest homer. “And I think it’s played out that way where he’s come up in a lot of big situations in that spot. And as we turn over our lineup ahead of Gardy (Brett Gardner) and (Aaron) Judge; in essence, in a lot of cases it does become like a second leadoff hitter down there.”

For a second leadoff hitter, Torres is batting .296 with 30 RBIs Montee Ball Jersey , though he is 9-for-39 over his last 11 games.

Torres’ latest homer occurred on a night when Bird hit his third homer of the season and had two hits after entering Wednesday with five hits in his previous 36 at-bats.

“Not a lot different frankly,” Boone said. “I’m kind of seeing the at-bats I saw tonight, just not a ton of results.”

One player who will return to the lineup is catcher Gary Sanchez, who was given the last two nights off. Sanchez is hitless in his last 15 at-bats, 4-for-53 since May 21 and batting .190 overall.

Whatever the lineup card looks like, the Yankees will attempt to avoid consecutive losses for the first time since May 22-23 in Texas.

The Rays are 4-1 in their last five games since dropping eight straight. Tampa Bay also improved to 28-22 in its last 50 contests after getting off to a 4-13 start.

On Wednesday, the Rays pulled out a 1-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays when Matt Duffy hit an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. After Duffy’s hit, Tampa Bay will play the next 16 games against the Yankees, Houston Astros and Nationals.

“We are starting to roll a little bit Kenny Stabler Jersey , feeling good, and we are going to keep that going,” Rays rookie first baseman Jake Bauers told reporters.

Tampa Bay’s tough stretch will start with Blake Snell on the mound. Snell is 8-3 with a 2.30 ERA and has matched a career high by winning his last four decisions. It is the third time in his brief career Snell has done so.

Since allowing five runs over 3 1/3 innings in a 17-1 loss at Baltimore on May 13, Snell is 4-0 with a 0.89 ERA in five starts while totaling 36 strikeouts in his last 30 1/3 innings.

Snell last pitched Saturday in a 7-3 victory against the Seattle Mariners. Matched up against Felix Hernandez, he allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits in six innings. He allowed a homer to Nelson Cruz, snapping a scoreless streak of 23 1/3 innings, and did so on a day when the left-hander felt his stuff was not as crisp.

“Off what I had today, I’d say it was good,” Snell said. “Frustration with most (of my pitches). It’s a tough lineup. When you don’t have anything going and get through six Eddie Vanderdoes Jersey , you’ve got to be happy with it.”

Snell, along with aces Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander, has allowed two runs or fewer in 12 starts, good for the most in the majors. He also has allowed one earned run or less nine times.

Snell is 2-3 with a 4.58 ERA in nine starts against the Yankees and 0-3 with a 6.55 in Yankee Stadium. He last faced the Yankees April 4 in New York when he allowed five earned runs, including third-inning homers to Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez in 3 1/3 innings.

Domingo German will make another attempt at his first career win Thursday. He is 0-4 with a 5.32 ERA this season and 0-3 with a 6.00 ERA in six starts since entering the rotation last month in place of the injured Jordan Montgomery.

German last pitched in Saturday’s 4-3 victory at the New York Mets when he allowed three runs on five hits in six innings. German allowed three hits, including homers to Todd Frazier and Asdrubal Cabrera, in the first inning and only two hits the rest of the way.

Thursday marks German’s 19th career appearance and first against Tampa Bay.

Anyone who has played with Marc-Andre Fleury can tell he’s dialed in by watching his mannerisms.

Last year Clay Matthews Jersey , he rubbed the shaft of his stick after making a save with it on Alex Ovechkin. This year, he continued a career-long tradition of rubbing the post as a sign of appreciation for keeping a puck out.

”That’s when you know he’s in the zone,” Pittsburgh defenseman Olli Maatta said.

Fleury is in one of the best zones of his career in the playoffs with the expansion Vegas Golden Knights, who have followed up a magical inaugural season with a trip to the Western Conference final. The goaltending of Fleury is the biggest reason they’ve gotten this far and is a continuation of his remarkable playoff reputation rehabilitation.

After taking the Penguins to the Stanley Cup Final in 2008 and winning it all in 2009, Fleury lost four of the next five series he played and each postseason posted a save percentage under .900. He has since gotten his groove back, helping the Penguins win the Cup again a year ago, and now leads the NHL playoffs with a 1.53 goals-against average, .951 save percentage and four shutouts.

”I don’t think it was anything physically that he changed,” former Penguins teammate and current Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik said. ”It was all confidence-driven. He’s always been a guy who’s really competitive and really loose at the same time. I think it was just confidence. I think he needed a fresh start. Maybe he just needed a clean slate Adam Butler Jersey , and you perform better when you’re more appreciated.”

It’s impossible not to appreciate the impact ”Flower” has made in the desert as the face of a new franchise as he went 29-13-4 with a 2.24 GAA and .927 save percentage for Pacific Division-winning Vegas. The fresh start might have rejuvenated Fleury more than a decade into his career, but his bounce-back in becoming a great playoff goalie again is six years in the making.

The low point came in 2012. Fleury allowed 26 goals over six games to Philadelphia in a first-round exit. The next playoffs, backup Tomas Vokoun started more games, and it was fair to wonder if Fleury had lost it.

”You learn from losing,” Fleury said Wednesday. ”You learn from tough times and pressure and stuff like that. It made me a better goalie from it.”

Now-Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen was there for some of the struggles but didn’t level them all on Fleury. By 2014, he noticed a different goalie.

”There was a period of time there where maybe (it was) not entirely his fault, a few things went wrong and it snowballed on him and he had a tough go there, I think, mentally for a couple springs Josh Sitton Jersey ,” Niskanen said. ”But by the time of my last year there he was really good again.”

The scars of another second-round exit led to more blame for Fleury, who was scapegoated for a team with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin not doing more after the Cup in 2009.

”Sometimes it’s the way your team plays in front of you,” said Penguins winger Carl Hagelin, who beat Fleury with the Rangers in playoff series in 2014 and 2015. ”Sometimes, like any other player, you might have a bad series or a bad playoffs and I think for a goalie if you have that, people are going to be all over you.”

With Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, it’s fairly clear that something is bothering him. It’s still not clear what it is, or how it will affect his preparations for 2018.

With Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski Tahir Whitehead Jersey , there’s less mystery. And while he may not be present for Organized Team Activities as of Monday, a source with knowledge of the situation says that Gronkowski will be present at some point.

Gronkowski made it clear that last month, after weeks of uncertainty, that he’s committed for 2018. And a revised contract could soon be coming.

Possibly, Gronkowski will show up for OTAs once he gets that adjusted deal.

As to Brady, it’s unclear what it would take to make him happy and to get him to show up for OTAs. And if you hope to plug your fingers in your ears and cry “not listening” or simply shout “fake news!,” the truth is that Organized Team Activities have become the centerpiece of the offseason program, where important work gets done in advance of the work to be done in training camp. If Brady’s not there, he will be behind when he reports.

Whether he’s sufficiently skilled to overcome that isn’t the issue. His teammates (especially the new ones) need to commence the process of working with him. And the coaching staff will surely be less stressed about that adjustment if/when Brady is there.

Yes Adrian Clayborn Jersey , the workouts are voluntary. But quarterbacks occupy a different position as a practical matter, making them part player, part coach. If the quarterback isn’t all in, it becomes harder to get the most out of the team.

But this blurb is about Gronkowski. He’ll be there at some point, regardless of whether Brady joins him.

The Washington Redskins say they’re concerned by allegations made by cheerleaders in a New York Times article about a trip to Costa Rica for a photo shoot in 2013.

Team president Bruce Allen said in a statement Thursday the organization is immediately looking into the situation. Allen says if the investigation shows any employees acted inappropriately Amari Cooper Jersey , ”those employees will face significant repercussions.”

The New York Times reported the cheerleaders had their passports collected, were forced to be topless for a calendar photo shoot that included male spectators and were asked to be escorts for sponsors at a nightclub. The story, published Wednesday, quoted cheerleaders on condition of anonymity because they signed confidentiality agreements.

Allen says team officials have had dialogue with a number of current and former cheerleaders and have ”heard very different firsthand accounts that directly contradict many of the details” of the article. Allen says the Redskins ”will continue to take all necessary measures to create a safe and respectful work environment for their cheerleaders.”

The first workout in pads during training camp usually belongs to the defense, but Los Angeles Chargers center Mike Pouncey was ready to bring his own level of physicality.

Pouncey traded blows with Chargers defensive linemen Brandon Mebane and Corey Liuget on Monday, showing a ferocity he rediscovered because of how his time in Miami ended after seven seasons.

"It just lit that fire again in me," Pouncey said. "I never thought I would play with anybody but the Dolphins Andre Holmes Jersey , but once they released me, it made me want to be an even better football player. It made me want to prove everybody wrong, and I'm excited to be here. I can't wait to help this run game out, help this football team do something special."

Pouncey signed a two-year contract with the Chargers in March, inspired by the chance to play with one of the game's top quarterbacks in Philip Rivers.

His time in Miami saw Pouncey working with a host of journeymen before helping first-round draft pick Ryan Tannehill transition to the NFL. Rivers is at the other end of the spectrum in terms of talent, experience and understanding of the game. It didn't take long for Pouncey to recognize Rivers' comprehensive mastery of the position.

"I just like that he knows everything that is going on each and every play. When we go up, he's the guy that points out the Mike (linebacker). He knows when blitzes are coming Jalen Richard Jersey , so he puts us in the right protections and he gets us in and out of plays. When a bad look is there and we don't want to run that play, he switches the play," Pouncey said.

"To be able to play with him, I don't take it for granted. I feel like it's something that I lucked up into, and I'm going to take full advantage of it."

The chance to play on a team with viable Super Bowl aspirations was just as important for Pouncey, who reached the playoffs once during his time with the Dolphins, as the Chargers are the only team in the AFC West that returns its head coach Jermon Bushrod Jersey , both coordinators and starting quarterback. The professionalism displayed by his new teammates during their brief time together has convinced Pouncey the Chargers can deliver on their growing expectations.

"Every year in the league I've always wanted to win," Pouncey said. "That's the goal every year you go into training camp is to try and win something, win the Super Bowl. For me right now, at the point in my career, I'm excited to be on a football team that has a chance. They finished top of the league in offense last year, and our defense is unbelievable, so I feel with me coming here it can only help."

Pouncey wants to make his presence felt in the run game Cameron Brate Jersey , where the Chargers tied for 25th after averaging 3.8 yards per carry last season. He looked up to the part in practice, creating holes for Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler. But Pouncey also felt the familiar push back from the likes of Mebane and Liuget on the interior.

Chargers defenders had been looking forward to the chance to hit again, and coach Anthony Lynn said their energy was evident.

"That's kind of why you had to hold them back a little bit. You don't want the excitement to go too far," Lynn said.

The back and forth during the morning session was fine by Pouncey.

"First days of pads is always the funnest day," Pouncey said. "I feel we had a really good day as a football team on both sides of the football, and we can only get better from here."

The draft started two months ago tomorrow. And all but 17 of the draft picks have signed their rookie deals.

Per a source with knowledge of and access to the full list of rookie contracts Josh Hill Jersey , the collection of remaining unsigned players includes 12 first-round picks, three second-round picks, one third-round pick, and one fifth-round pick.

Leading the way is Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. While post-2011 rookie contracts contain few terms about which to haggle, two important factors provide the basis for back-and-forth: (1) whether the guaranteed money will be subject to offset language, preventing double-dipping; and (2) the cash flow of the signing bonus.

Given that Mayfield at one point considered going without an agent Craig Mager Jersey , his agents may feel compelled to justify his decision by driving a hard bargain on either or both points. Two years ago, Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa held out through training camp and the preseason over these issues.

With the Browns supposedly not inclined to use Mayfield this year, there’s less urgency on their part to get him signed. But they’d surely still like to avoid the distraction of a holdout, which gives Mayfield some leverage.

Beyond the top 10, where seven players remain unsigned, it should be easier to work out these contracts. There’s a cluster of unsigned players at the bottom of round one Linval Joseph Jersey , with an impasse (if there is one) focusing on the handling of payments and guarantees in the fourth year of the contract.

Panthers three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Thomas Davis said he has been suspended by the NFL and will miss the first four games of next season after testing positive for a banned substance.

Davis posted a video on his Twitter account on Friday saying that he tested positive for an estrogen blocker.

”I was completely caught off guard by this,” said the 35-year-old Davis. ”I have never done anything to intentionally try to cheat the game. It’s one of those situations where the NFL rules are clear. They state that you are responsible for what you put into your body.”

Davis, a former Walter Payton Man of the Year award winner, said he has been taking the same supplements for the last seven or eight years and never had any issues.

He said he has never tested positive for a steroid of HGH, and wanted fans to know that wasn’t the issue.

”Unfortunately this is some of the things that happen when you take supplements,” said Davis Adam Joseph Duhe Jersey , Carolina’s all-time leading tackler.

Panthers general manager Marty Hurney did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.

The 13-year NFL veteran has been one of the NFL’s success stories, returning from three separate torn ACLs in the same knee to play in three straight Pro Bowls (2015-17) and help the Panthers reach the playoffs in four of the last five seasons, including a Super Bowl appearance in 2015.

He is one of the most popular players in franchise history in large part because of how active and visible he is in the community.

He won the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2015 – an award given to one NFL player each year for his volunteer and charity work, as well as his excellence on the field.

Davis said he has never done anything to try to create a competitive advantage over other players.

”I have always tried to do things the right way,” Davis said. ”I can tell you guys that my conscience is clear in this situation and as bad as it hurts me to tell you this, I know it is going to hurt a lot of people who have looked up and believed in Thomas Davis over the years. But just know that in no way I have done anything to try to cheat this game.”

Davis said earlier this offseason that the 2018 season would be his last in the NFL.

But he left open the possibility of playing beyond 2018 on Friday Nico Siragusa Jersey , saying ”who knows, maybe this isn’t my last year.”

When NFL players have been accused of domestic violence Bradley McDougald Jersey , the league has employed the commissioner’s exempt list as a way to take a player off the field without actually suspending him. But that will not happen with Bills running back LeSean McCoy.

Although McCoy was accused of involvement in an attack on his ex-girlfriend, the NFL confirmed to the Washington Post that there is no change to his status and he is eligible to play in Week One.

McCoy’s ex-girlfriend, Delicia Cordon, is accusing McCoy and a former college teammate of being responsible for injuries she suffered in an attack at a home that McCoy owns, where she was living. She has not, however, actually accused McCoy of physically attacking her.

McCoy has not been criminally charged and has denied wrongdoing.

Here’s a look at what’s happening around the majors today:

HIGH HEAT

It’s expected to be a hot box at many ballparks, with game-time temperatures likely to climb over 100 degrees in Texas for White Sox-Rangers, near triple digits in Baltimore Chris Ivory Jersey , Philadelphia and Yankee Stadium, and into the mid-90s in Chicago and Cincinnati. On Saturday, three Twins left early with heat illness at Wrigley Field.

”Drink more water, try to stay by the fan. I try to keep a towel by my side and make sure I catch my breath,” White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson said. ”It’s a mind thing. You can’t think too much about it. If you do, it’ll eat you up.”

Angels manager Mike Scioscia saw starter Tyler Skaggs wilt after five innings in Baltimore. Scioscia was already anticipating another steamy afternoon.

”These guys will be hydrating tonight and I know Deck McGuire, the starter, was hydrating all day just in anticipation of the heat,” he said.

Said Orioles skipper Buck Showalter: ”There’s a big bulletin board the guys see every day reminding them of the things they need to do to hydrate properly. … We’re taking a lot of precautions.”

RIVALRY NIGHT

The Red Sox and Yankees play in prime time Adam Joseph Duhe Jersey , with stars David Price (9-5, 3.66 ERA) and Luis Severino (12-2, 2.10) on the mound. New York entered Saturday a major league-best 19-5 against left-handed starting pitchers, and its .820 OPS against lefties was best in the majors. The left-handed Price has been tough lately, though, going 7-1 with a 2.72 ERA in nine starts since being diagnosed with a mild case of carpal tunnel syndrome that caused him to miss a scheduled turn against the Yankees in early May.

POWER PITCHER

The biggest bat off Cincinnati’s bench might be in the bullpen. No, really. Reds reliever Michael Lorenzen has homered in three straight at-bats after connecting for a pinch-hit grand slam Saturday in a 12-3 victory over Milwaukee. He also went deep Friday during Milwaukee’s 8-2 win. ”We treat him as a position player. We covered him in scouting meetings. We’re going to have to make some adjustments,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. The last major league pitcher to homer in three consecutive at-bats was Colorado’s Mike Hampton in 2001. For the season, Lorenzen is 4 for 6 with three homers and six RBIs. His fifth career homer was the second grand slam by a Reds pitcher in a week – starter Anthony DeSclafani also hit one against the Chicago Cubs.

STINGY STUFF

The surging Rays (41-41) send left-hander Blake Snell (10-4 Adrian Peterson Jersey , 2.31 ERA) to the mound against Charlie Morton (10-1, 2.54) and the World Series champion Astros in the finale of a four-game series. Snell didn’t give up a hit until the seventh inning of an 11-0 win over Washington on Monday night. Tampa Bay has limited opponents to two runs or fewer in five straight games, and seven out of eight during a tough stretch against the Yankees, Nationals and Astros. Morton has won three straight starts and hasn’t permitted an earned run in his last two. Houston first baseman Yuli Gurriel (paternity leave) is expected back in the lineup.

CANADIAN CURRENCY

Blue Jays left-hander J.A. Happ (10-3, 3.62 ERA) faces the skidding Tigers on Canada Day in Toronto. An expected trade target as the July 31 deadline approaches, Happ has won six straight decisions and is unbeaten in eight outings. Detroit has lost 11 games in a row overall – and 12 of 14 in Toronto. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays have won 10 of 11 at home.

BAY AREA BOOM

Jed Lowie and the Oakland Athletics (46-38) try for their seventh straight victory when they host AL Central-leading Cleveland. The surprising A’s have won 12 of 14 overall. They’ve also taken seven in a row against Cleveland, and nine of the last 10 meetings in Oakland.

SUMMER WINS

Chicago Cubs left-hander Jon Lester (10-2, 2.18 ERA) hopes to start a new month the same way he ended the last one. After going 5-0 with a 1.13 ERA in five June starts Kyle Van Noy Jersey , Lester pitches against Lance Lynn (5-6, 4.81) and the Minnesota Twins in the finale of the three-game interleague series.

WESTWARD NO

The Baltimore Orioles are 0-15 against AL West opponents this year after losing to the Angels 6-2 on Saturday. The O’s have dropped seven in a row overall, 17 of 18 at Camden Yards and own the worst record in the majors at 23-59. They’ll try again when Kevin Gausman (3-6, 4.20 ERA) pitches at home against Los Angeles righty Deck McGuire, who makes his third major league start. Gausman has lost his last four decisions and hasn’t completed seven innings in any of his past eight starts.

Texans pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney hasn’t been practicing during Organized Team Activities patrick mahomes stitched jersey , and it may be a couple months until he’s ready to take the field.鈥?/p>

Houston coach Bill O鈥橞rien told James Palmer of NFL Network he doesn鈥檛 expect Clowney to participate in any OTAs, and said Clowney most likely wont practice at all until training camp.

Although Clowney played in all 16 games for the first time in his career last season, he had arthroscopic knee surgery after the season. Clowney has been at the Texans’ facility, but he’s focusing on rehabbing his knee, not doing practice drills.

Clowney is heading into the final year of his rookie contract and set to make $12.3 million this season. The Texans have indicated that they’re hoping to get a long-term extension done with him this year patrick mahomes authentic jersey , which would suggest that they’re confident he’s going to be able to get healthy and stay healthy. Even if he’s not ready to go just yet.

Eli Harold spent the past two seasons kneeling aside San Francisco 49ers teammates such as Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid as a form of protest of racial injustice during the national anthem.

Harold has changed his stance this year and has stood during the playing of the "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the first two exhibition games for the 49ers.

Harold said Tuesday he didn't want to get into details on why he no longer is kneeling during the anthem.

"I understand everyone wants to ask the questions," he said. "I just don't want to get into it right now. I'm trying to focus on ball. Me and my wife had a discussion and we feel it's best right now that I just don't answer those questions and try to stick with ball."

The league and the players' union have yet to announce a policy for this season regarding demonstrations during the anthem after the league initially ordered everyone to stand on the sideline when "The Star-Spangled Banner" is played, or remain in the locker room.

Only a handful of NFL players have protested during the anthem this preseason with a few kneeling, staying in the locker room or raising a fist. Niners receiver Marquise Goodwin is the only player to protest on his team so far, raising a fist during the anthem.

While a new policy is being worked out http://www.kansascitychiefsteamonline.com/patrick-mahomes-ii-jersey , both Kaepernick and Reid remain unsigned. Kaepernick hasn't played since the end of the 2016 season and has filed a grievance over the refusal of any team to sign him to a contract.

Reid has not been signed so far this offseason despite coming off a solid season in showing the versatility to play both safety and linebacker.

"He's a heck of a ballplayer, obviously top five at his position," Harold said. "It sucks but it's the nature of the business. I'm praying for him. Hopefully everything works out, but it just sucks. He's a heck of a player. It hurts me to see what he's going through."

The 49ers determined early in the offseason that they wanted Jaquiski Tartt and Adrian Colbert as their starters and only offered Reid a one-year minimum contract to come in and compete for a backup spot.

Reid declined the deal and has gotten no significant offers from other teams. Coach Kyle Shanahan said the Niners still would be willing to bring Reid back as a reserve.

"If any really good player wants to come in here on a minimum deal and have a good player to be a backup, that'd be unbelievable Mitch Morse Jersey ," Shanahan said. "I don't think that's what Eric wants. I told you the reason we decided to go that direction is because we made a tough decision, but we had to do it. We went with Tartt. We thought that was the right way to go.

"You can't give a lot of money to backups, and that's what he would be if he came here. But, I like Eric. Eric is a good player, he's a good person. That'd be great if we could add him to that role. I don't think he would be that interested in it."

NOTES: CB Richard Sherman returned to practice after being sidelined by a hamstring injury and is on track to play his first exhibition game Saturday against Indianapolis. ... DL Solomon Thomas and OL Garry Gilliam have not yet been cleared for contact following concussions in the exhibition opener. ... Backup QB C.J. The Arizona Cardinals have signed fullback Derrick Coleman to a one-year contract.

Coleman is the first deaf player on offense to play in the NFL and he has spent four seasons in the league. He has played in 47 games since joining the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted rookie free agent out of UCLA.

Coleman played in all 16 games with the Atlanta Falcons last season with a career-high 16 special teams tackles. He spent the previous three years with Seattle Kyzir White Jersey , appearing in 31 games.

The Cardinals' previous coach, Bruce Arians Oren Burks Jersey , did not use a fullback in his system but new coach Steve Wilks and his offensive coordinator Mike McCoy do.

The Oakland Raiders are trading star kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson to the New England Patriots.

A person familiar with the deal said Sunday that the deal will become official after Patterson passes a physical. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced. Pardon My Take first reported the trade.

NFL Network reported that Oakland will receive a fifth-round pick in the deal and send one of its six sixth-round picks to New England.

Patterson is one of the most accomplished kickoff returners in the game. His career average of 30.2 yards per return ranks second all-time to Hall of Famer Gale Sayers’ 30.6 mark.

Patterson spent one year in Oakland after playing four seasons in Minnesota. The Vikings originally acquired Patterson with the 29th pick in the 2013 draft after trading up with the Patriots.

Patterson has played receiver throughout his career, but has made his biggest impact as a returner where he has scored five touchdowns and has always helped create good field position for his teams.

The Raiders had the best average starting field position after kickoffs last season in the NFL Sam Mills Jersey , while the Patriots ranked fourth.

That speed has been less effective as a receiver where Patterson has averaged only 10 yards per catch in his career as he has been mostly used on screens and short passes.

Patterson caught 31 passes for 309 yards last season for Oakland and also ran for 121 yards on 13 carries for three scores.

For his career, Patterson has 163 catches for 1 Lance Kendricks Jersey ,625 yards and seven touchdowns to go along with 44 carries for 454 yards and six scores.

The Raiders have made some moves at receiver this offseason under new coach Jon Gruden. Jordy Nelson was signed last week to be a starter alongside Amari Cooper, leading to the decision to let Michael Crabtree go.

Oakland also signed Griff Whalen for depth at returner and receiver and is reportedly interested in former Washington receiver Ryan Grant as a potential free agent addition.

Prosecutors have rested their case against four former Pilot Flying J employees accused in a scheme to shortchange trucking customers on fuel rebates.

News outlets say prosecutors ended Wednesday without calling former Pilot Flying J. Vice President John ”Stick” Freeman. The government described Freeman as the scheme’s architect. In one recording Tre Madden Jersey , Freeman boasts that Pilot Flying J CEO and Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam ”loved it” when the sales team swindled customers. Freeman pleaded guilty in July.

Testimony has shown Freeman was friends with Haslam. The company’s controlled by the family of Haslam and Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam. They haven’t been charged with any wrongdoing, and the governor has had no recent involvement with the company.

Attorneys for former Pilot Flying J President Mark Hazelwood said they wouldn’t call witnesses.

Authorities issued a warrant Friday for the arrest of three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Bennett, who is accused of injuring a paraplegic woman as he tried get onto the field at last year’s Super Bowl to celebrate with his brother.

The Harris County district attorney’s office said a grand jury indicted the 32-year-old Bennett, acquired earlier this month by the Philadelphia Eagles, on a felony count of injury to the elderly.

Bennett was a spectator at the game at NRG Stadium in Houston in February 2017 when he tried to get onto the field immediately afterward to see his brother, Martellus Bennett Mike Evans Jersey , a tight end for the Patriots at the time. Prosecutors allege he pushed through security personnel, including a 66-year-old woman in a wheelchair who was a stadium employee and who had told him to use a different entrance to access the field. Bennett is also accused of pushing two other people, including another woman, and ignoring a request by a police officer to stop as he made his way onto the field.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Bennett allegedly told the people he had pushed, ”You all must know who I am and I can own this (expletive). I’m going down to the field, whether you like it or not.”

Acevedo called Bennett ”morally bankrupt” for pushing the two women. Police said the disabled woman suffered a sprained shoulder when she was allegedly pushed by Bennett Amara Darboh Jersey , hitting the back of her 800-pound, motorized wheelchair.

”Mr. Bennett may think that because he’s an NFL player and some time passed … he may have thought that, number one, rules don’t apply to him, number two, he doesn’t have to respect the dignity of a paraplegic woman who’s trying to earn a living Sheldon Richardson Jersey ,” Acevedo said at a news conference.

Acevedo said a detective did not actively start working the case until September because the police department had prioritized more serious cases.

The charge of injury to the elderly can be filed if a person intentionally or knowingly causes injury to a person 65 or older. It carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. County authorities say they’re talking with Bennett’s legal team about surrendering on the charge.

The Eagles acquired Bennett from the Seattle Seahawks, where he became one of the dominant defensive linemen in the game. Bennett had 8 sacks last season and has 54 in his nine-year career. Bennett has three years remaining on his contract, with a base salary of just $1.65 million in 2018. That number jumps to $6 million in 2019 and $7.5 million in 2020.

”We are aware of the situation involving Michael Bennett and are in the process of gathering more information,” the Eagles said. ”Because this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Bennett’s agent Will Lutz Jersey , Doug Hendrickson, did not respond to a message seeking comment Friday.

To anyone watching the Jets throughout training camp and the preseason Kellen Winslow Jersey , it would be a surprise if Darnold isn't under center when New York opens the regular season at Detroit on Sept. 10. It would seem unlikely that Darnold will get much, if any, time on the field in the preseason finale Thursday night at Philadelphia 鈥?the game when starters typically sit out.

After missing the first three days of camp while getting his contract hammered out, Darnold quickly caught up to his teammates on the field. He was third in the rotation in the preseason opener against Atlanta, but opened the past two games with the starting offense.

Bowles said he has not told any of the players yet who the starting quarterback will be. And that's OK, as far as Darnold is concerned.

"I'm not really going about my day any different than I would," Darnold said. "I'm still continuing in practice to take advantage of every opportunity I get to play football and to be able to play this position. And, continuing to do my thing and trying to be as consistent as possible and go about it that way."

From a numbers standpoint, Darnold hasn't necessarily been eye-popping this preseason. He's 29 of 45 for 244 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.

It's the veteran-like way he has handled situations in the games that has been promising. Darnold has displayed an ability to make plays when the pocket collapses, while also being smart with the football.

"I mean David Sharpe Jersey , I wouldn't be disappointed and I wouldn't be surprised," Darnold said of the possibility he isn't named the starter.

"Throughout my short career playing football, I've seen a lot of things," he added. "Teddy and Josh are great players, so I wouldn't be surprised. At the same time, every quarterback wants to play, but that's not my job to put the best player out there. That's Coach's job. Whether that's Josh, whether that's Teddy, whether that's me, we're just going to go out there and do the best we can."

Bridgewater has perhaps outplayed Darnold Corey Linsley Jersey , just based on statistics, going 28 of 38 for 316 yards and two TDs and one interception. But it seems the veteran, who has proven he's healthy two years after a devastating knee injury, will be a backup 鈥?that is, if he's not traded.

"I'm living in the now," Bridgewater said. "I'm taking advantage of this opportunity I have right now."

Meanwhile, McCown has thrown just one pass, a 4-yard completion, in one series this preseason. It was similar to last summer when the 39-year-old veteran got limited work while the Jets evaluated their young QBs. McCown still ended up being the starter when neither Christian Hackenberg nor Bryce Petty distinguished himself.

This year, though Robert Alford Jersey , Darnold and Bridgewater have given Bowles and his coaches plenty to consider.

"I don't think it happens in a week," Bowles said of the decision. "It happens throughout the course of the spring and summer. I'll always get their opinion. This is not a state-of-the-union-type of thing. I think they have a feel for where I am from a coaching standpoint and you tell the players when you tell the players and kind of go from there."

NOTES: Bowles said WR Jermaine Kearse (abdomen) is considered "day to day, week to week." It's uncertain if Kearse, who led the team with 65 catches last season, will be ready for the season opener. ... Second-year RB Elijah McGuire (foot) won't be ready for the start of the regular season and Bowles wouldn't rule out putting him on short-term IR.

Tampa Bay’s Blake Snell and Wilson Ramos are hoping they both get selected to the American League All-Star team. Saturday afternoon’s performance at Citi Field may have strengthened the batterymates’ chances.

Snell blanked the Mets over a career-high-tying 7 1/3 innings Eddie Yarbrough Jersey , Ramos drove in a pair of runs and the Rays downed New York 3-0 on Saturday.

”I’d be pumped,” Snell said about the possibility of playing in the Midsummer Classic. ”I’d be stoked.”

A late afternoon start under clear blue skies featured two young left-handers at the top of their game in recent weeks, both successfully dodging a slew of baserunners early.

Ranked among the league leaders in several categories, the 25-year-old Snell was as advertised- keeping the Mets off the board despite allowing the leadoff runner to reach in six out of eight frames including each of the first four.

Snell (12-4) struck out nine, scattering six hits and three walks while lowering his AL-leading ERA to 2.09.

”Blake has been tremendous for us. He’s been the workhorse.” Rays manager Kevin Cash said. ”We’re talking about a potential All-Star candidate.”

The lanky lefty has yielded two runs or fewer in nine of his last 10 starts and is 4-0 with an 0.63 ERA over his last four outings, two against the Astros.

”He deserves to be in the All-Star Game because he’s had an awesome year,” Ramos said of the Rays starter. ”There’s nothing better than being with your teammates in the All-Star Game.”

The feeling is mutual.

”He needs to go,” Snell said, rallying for his backstop. ”It would be even cooler if I did go and pitch to him. I think that would be special for the both of us.”

After being held scoreless in 34 of their previous 36 innings, Tampa Bay finally broke through in the fifth. Matt Duffy lined a leadoff double down the right-field line, the fourth two-bagger surrendered by Mets starter Steven Matz to that point, advancing to third on a groundout.

Ramos followed with a sharp grounder to shortstop. A charging Amed Rosario booted the ball before recovering and throwing to first for the out. With Duffy running on contact Davonte Lambert Jersey , Rosario likely would have cut down the run at home had he fielded the ball cleanly. Instead, the Rays took a 1-0 lead.

”He just came in on it hard,” Mets manager Mickey Callaway said. ”He looked up just to see where the runner was and it hit off his heel.”

Matz (4-6) continued his recent surge, charged with one run on five hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings- striking out five. The Long Island native has allowed four earned runs across his last three starts, a span of 18 2/3 innings.

He escaped trouble early by getting Adeiny Hechavarria to fly out, ending a bases-loaded threat in the first. The Rays left seven men on in the first four innings and were 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position during that stretch.

”I get in situations throughout the game where I can crumble,” Matz said. ”But I think just realizing what I’ve got to do out there, and just the task at hand, has really helped.”

Tampa Bay was 2 for 25 with runners in scoring position in the first two games of the series, stranding a total of 18.

The Rays added some insurance in the eighth on a bloop single by former Met Carlos Gomez, scoring Daniel Robertson. Ramos singled home a run in the ninth.

Sergio Romo pitched a scoreless ninth for his ninth save in 13 chances.

Neither Snell nor Matz had faced the opposing team before.

Jose Bautista was 0 for 4 with three strikeouts after hitting a game-ending grand slam in the series opener Friday night.

LOOSE LUMBER

Both starting third basemen lost the grip on their bats an inning apart. Todd Frazier swung at a fastball in the bottom of the fourth, fouling it off and also sending his bat deep into foul territory down the third base line. Duffy had a similar experience in the fifth De'Vondre Campbell Jersey , letting go of his lumber and causing it to fly towards the Rays’ on-deck circle.

CLOSE CALL

The Rays had a brief scare in the second when Snell’s pitching hand was grazed by a 92-mph sinker. The southpaw took his base and did not appear to be in pain.

”I’m happy that it didn’t really hit me hard,” Snell said.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Rays: Rookie infielder Willy Adames was scratched from the starting lineup. ”He’s just under the weather,” Cash said. ”He was battling a bug last night and I think he woke up this morning a little bit worse.” … RHP Jake Faria (strained left oblique) was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with high-A Charlotte Saturday night. … INF Christian Arroyo (strained left oblique) could play for Charlotte on Monday but the club is not fully committed to that plan, according to Cash.

Mets: LF Yoenis Cespedes (right hip) is continuing baseball activities including running straight sprints, although he has yet to begin turning the bases to simulate a double. ”Trying to figure out that schedule as we go along,” said Callaway about when his club’s top slugger might play in a rehab game. ”All that’s going to be based on how he bounces back day-to-day.”

UP NEXT

Rays: RHP Nathan Eovaldi (2-3, 3.92 ERA) pitches in the rubber game on Sunday. He has allowed just two runs over his last two starts, a span of twelve innings in which he fanned 14 batters.

Mets: RHP Chris Flexen (0-1, 10.80 ERA in 3 relief appearances) will make his first start of the season.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans won their first playoff game in 14 years in a thrilling rally from 18 points down on the road.

Then they fired coach Mike Mularkey once the postseason run ended in an ugly rout.

Yes, expectations are very high in Tennessee where consecutive 9-7 seasons with Marcus Mariota just didn’t cut it, not with an offense that didn’t get the most out of the young quarterback.

Now the Titans have first-year head coach Mike Vrabel with his three Super Bowl rings as a linebacker in New England in charge of a roster that needed only a little tinkering in the offseason.

“Now we’ve just got to pick up where we left off Fred Warner Jersey ,” linebacker Brian Orakpo said. “It’s not a rebuilding stage, we just reloaded essentially.”

This is the 20th season for this franchise since dropping the Oilers’ nickname for the Titans, and they capped that debut season with a run to their lone Super Bowl appearance in Atlanta. The Titans unveiled redesigned uniforms in April and are hoping for another trip to Atlanta — site of this season’s Super Bowl.

Three-time Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker said they have plenty of motivation from how their last playoff berth ended in a 34-14 loss to New England .

“It didn’t sit well with me,” Walker said. “I think everybody in that locker room felt the same way. I worked as hard as I could this offseason.”

Some things to know about the Titans, who open the season Sept. 9 at Miami:

FIRST-TIME COACH: For so many years, Vrabel was seen as a sure winner once he became an NFL head coach.

Now the man who played 14 seasons and was an assistant coach for four more will be making all the big decisions on his own. Vrabel has tried to prepare himself by watching tape from games over the past decade to decide what he would do in specific situations. Everything from tossing a challenge flag to deciding whether to go for it on fourth down will be a first for Vrabel this season, with fans and critics watching closely.

“My playing career is going to help us win zero games,” Vrabel said.

MARIOTA TIME : The Titans already have picked up the fifth-year option on Mariota, and that $20.9 million for 2019 could prove a great deal if offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur’s offense helps the quarterback look like the Heisman Trophy winner he was at Oregon. Mariota is going to get to run and throw more in an offense the Los Angeles Rams used to lead the NFL in scoring last season. Mariota is coming off his worst season, having thrown more interceptions (15) than touchdowns (13). But he enjoyed a rehab-free offseason and looks faster playing without a knee brace.

DEFENSIVE CHANGES: Legendary coordinator Dick LeBeau is gone, replaced by another longtime success in Dean Pees. The Titans did so much right under LeBeau, ranking fourth against the run and tied for fifth in sacks.

But they were 17th in points allowed and 25th in yards passing given up. That’s why general manager Jon Robinson signed cornerback Malcolm Butler and drafted linebackers Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry to shore up remaining holes.

He also replaced safety Johnathan Cyprien when he was lost to a torn ACL with another veteran in Kenny Vaccaro in training camp.

YOUNG RECEIVERS: This position easily is the biggest question for the Titans. Veteran Rishard Matthews missed the entire offseason and the preseason with an undisclosed injury. Corey Davis is expected to be the top guy; the fifth pick overall in 2017 Eric Fisher Jersey , he didn’t catch his first touchdown pass until the playoff loss in New England — against Butler. After Davis, there are young and unproven receivers in Taywan Taylor and Tajae Sharp. That makes Walker so valuable with his 356 catches since 2013, most by any tight end.

NEW BACKFIELD DUO: The Titans released DeMarco Murray in March , and it’s now time for Derrick Henry, the 2015 Heisman Trophy winner, to show his skills after leading the team in rushing last season despite only two starts. They also signed Dion Lewis to a four-year deal to give Mariota another dangerous receiving threat and a change-up to the powerful Henry .

TOUGH START: Five of their first eight games are on the road, including the franchise’s first trip to London to play the Chargers on Oct. 21. The first month isn’t kind, with Houston and the defending champion Eagles visiting, along with a trip to Jacksonville. If the Titans survive, four of the final five games are in Nashville, where they went 6-2 last season.

White Sox manager Rick Renteria has been talking with Yoan Moncada about his focus lately.

The talented second baseman sure looked locked in on Sunday.

Moncada broke out of a slump with a three-run homer and six RBIs Joe Staley Jersey , and the White Sox beat the Oakland Athletics 10-3 for a split of their four-game series.

”Anytime you’re going through a rough moment, you have doubts, you have questions,” Moncada said through an interpreter. ”But when you keep working hard, you can answer those questions.

”I keep grinding and just working hard.”

Daniel Palka and Yolmer Sanchez also connected for the White Sox, who had lost nine of 10. Carlos Rodon (1-2) pitched a season-high eight innings in his fourth start after missing the beginning of the year while recovering from shoulder surgery last September.

Moncada, who hit .183 over the previous 35 games, gave the White Sox a 3-2 lead with a three-run double in the fifth. Moncada then scored on Avisail Garcia’s single, and Jose Abreu added another RBI single.

Palka, Sanchez and Moncada all went deep in the sixth. Moncada belted a three-run drive for his 10th homer, making it 10-2 Chicago.

”I think he’s probably giving a little bit of a wakeup call to himself in terms of where he sees himself Jarvis Jenkins Jersey ,” Renteria said. ”I think he’s also learned that truly you have to take every single pitch of a game into consideration because they all matter.

”I think he’s starting to realize that maybe I have to have a little bit more focus and intensity.”

Oakland set a modern major league record when Mark Canha hit a drive to left on Rodon’s first pitch of the fifth, extending the A’s streak to 25 straight road games with a homer. Canha also opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the second.

A’s right-hander Paul Blackburn (1-2) allowed six runs and eight hits in five-plus innings. He permitted only one baserunner through the first four, but got into trouble with two out in the fifth.

The rally started with back-to-back singles by Omar Narvaez and Leury Garcia, and then Blackburn hit ninth hitter Adam Engel with a pitch.

”Garcia didn’t look very good on a couple changeups I threw. I threw another one that was a little up and he kind of flipped it over there (right field),” Blackburn said. ”Then I hit (Engel), and it was kind of downhill from there.”

Rodon allowed two runs and seven hits. The eight innings matched his career high.

”It was good to go eight and just be ahead of guys,” Rodon said. ”There’s up and down days when you go through shoulder surgery or any kind of surgery for a player. You just have to work through it, try to make your way back.”

ANOTHER STOP

Well-traveled right-hander Edwin Jackson will be activated on Monday and start for Oakland at Detroit.

The A’s will become his 13th major league team, which ties retired right-hander Octavio Dotel for the major league record. The 34-year-old went 0-1 with a 4.02 ERA in three starts for Triple-A Nashville. He owns a 98-120 major league record and 4.67 ERA in 15 seasons.

”I’m probably the only guy in the clubhouse that has never met him, but I did earlier today,” A’s manager Bob Melvin said.

Outfielder Nick Martini will be sent to Triple-A Nashville to open a spot for Jackson on the roster.

HISTORIC HOMER

Melvin said the team celebrated Canha’s record-setting home run in the dugout.

”It’s nice to hang your hat on Chris Jones Jersey , but it certainly would have been a little better if we had won the game,” Melvin said.

The previous record was set by the Orioles in 1996.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Athletics: RHP Daniel Mengden (sprained right foot) returned to the Bay Area to consult with team physicians. The injury is not believed to be related to his previous right foot injuries. ”We’ll probably know a little bit more in the next couple of days,” Melvin said. … INF Matt Chapman (right hand contusion) could have a cortisone shot in the wrist area on Monday and will sit out the Tigers series. He had an injection in his thumb last Monday. The hope is the trouble spot has been localized and he’ll be available on the next homestand.

White Sox: RHP prospect Dane Dunning left his start Saturday for Double-A Birmingham with right elbow soreness, Renteria said. He will undergo an MRI.

UP NEXT

Athletics: Jackson will make his A’s debut in the opener of a four-game series in Detroit. RHP Jordan Zimmermann (2-0, 4.95 ERA) goes for the Tigers.

White Sox: Following an off day, the White Sox begin a three-game set against visiting Minnesota on Tuesday. RHP Reynaldo Lopez (2-5, 3.59 ERA) opposes Twins RHP Lance Lynn (5-5, 4.64 ERA) in the opener.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari avoided a serious injury after being carted off the field at practice during the weekend.

Bakhtiari was hurt during the Family Night practice on Saturday at Lambeau Field. He walked to a cart with his left shoe removed before being driven back to the locker room.

Bakhtiari twisted his ankle while retreating in pass protection. He likened it to a “typical basketball” injury.

“It was weird,” Bakhtiari said Monday, when the Packers returned to practice following a day off. “It didn’t really feel bad Tahir Whitehead Jersey , just kind of putting some weight into it and it just told me no. That was kind of (why) I was worried, but it should be all right.”

Coach Mike McCarthy said Bakhtiari’s injury was “not of the long-term nature.” Bakhtiari will be evaluated as he goes through rehab.

“Obviously, you don’t want to get hurt but, thankfully, nothing catastrophic, nothing that is going to derail anything moving forward,” Bakhtiari said.

Good thing for the Packers, because he is one of their most important players given his role as quarterback Aaron Rodgers‘ reliable blind-side protector. He has been voted a second-team All-Pro each of the past two seasons.

Starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga just returned to practice on a limited basis following a right ACL injury that knocked him out at midseason last year.

Without those two, Kyle Murphy probably will start at left tackle and Jason Spriggs likely will start at right tackle for Thursday’s first preseason game, at home against Tennessee. Murphy started three games last season before a foot injury ended his season. Two of those came at left tackle.

Green Bay placed inside linebacker Jake Ryan on injured reserve on Monday, likely ending his season. One of the team’s best run-stoppers suffered a significant right knee injury in practice last week.

In that same practice Kareem Hunt Jersey , safety Kentrell Brice also was driven off the field on a cart, having re-injured the right ankle that required season-ending surgery last year. Brice, who had been taking first-team reps in the secondary, took part in some individual drills on Monday.

“It wasn’t broken, so it was a positive outlook,” Brice said. “Once they told me it wasn’t fractured or broken, I just started walking on it. I figured sprain, bruise, something like that. I’ll be all right.”

More than a week after the NFL clumsily changed its national anthem policy in a way that managed to take a bad situation and make it worse Maxx Williams Jersey , the NBA won’t be changing its own rules and regulations regarding the anthem.

Via SportsBusiness Daily, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in an annual “state of the league ” press conference that there’s no reason to change the state of the league’s rule that players must stand for the anthem.

“The NFL is in a very different situation than the NBA,” Silver said. “Twenty-five percent of our league is comprised of players who aren鈥檛 American. So it鈥檚 hard to say in the case of the NBA it鈥檚 about patriotism, when a quarter of our players aren鈥檛 even American. But we鈥檝e collectively viewed it as a moment of unity in our arenas.”

That’s kind of a weird explanation, frankly. The more accurate truth is that, in the aftermath of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf refusing to stand for the anthem more than 20 years ago, the NBA swooped in and negotiated an agreement with the NBA Players Association to make standing mandatory. End of problem.

Which is precisely what the NFL should have done. But the NFL doesn’t enjoy the kind of relationship with the NFL Players Association that would be conducive to a quick and easy win-win outcome, and the league surely didn’t want to get squeezed into making a concession to players in order to make the problem go away in August 2016.

As a result Julio Jones Jersey , the problem lingers. As does the NFL’s reluctance to negotiate the kind of conclusive resolution that would happen if the league and the union would agree that players will stand for the anthem. All because the NFL doesn’t want to give something up to get the outcome it so desperately needs.

BOSTON — The Boston Celtics knew they would be playing at TD Garden Saturday night, either against the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 7 of the first round or the Philadelphia 76ers in the opener of Round 2.

Well, the Bucks maintained the home-court advantage that has held up throughout this series and defeated the Celtics in Milwaukee Thursday night, setting up Game 7 in Boston Saturday.

“We work hard all season to put ourselves in a position for home court, so we have a great opportunity on Saturday,” Al Horford said after the Bucks pulled out a 97-86 win Thursday night that kept the Bucks’ season alive.

“Game 7 at TD Garden is what you play for,” said Boston coach Brad Stevens, whose team won a seventh game against the Washington Wizards in last year’s Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Bucks Tre'Davious White Jersey , the seventh seed trying to upset No. 2, have lost eight straight series since winning two in 2001 and are 0-17 all-time when trailing a series 0-2. The Celtics are 35-0 when leading a series 2-0 and, of course, have all those banners hanging in the rafters.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, slowed by the Celtics in Game 5, scored 31 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Thursday’s win that kept Milwaukee’s hopes of playing more games at the Bradley Center before the team moves to a new building next door.

“We’re a team that has shown a lot of resiliency all year,” interim coach Joe Prunty said. “We’ve had a game this year, twice Corey Linsley Jersey , where we’ve been down 20 and found a way to come back and win both times. We continue to battle. We fight.”

The Bucks have won three of the last four games to stay in this series. They did split a pair of regular season games in Boston before going 0-3 there in the playoffs.

Antetokounmpo, who is averaging 26.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game in the series, blamed himself for the Game 5 loss in Boston and felt the need to take over in Game 6. He wasn’t a one-man wrecking crew but seemed to score every time it was needed.

“I thought he played great,” said Prunty. “I don’t think he forced anything. I think he took opportunities that were there for him. He knows the spots to get to, but we also have to give him spacing around him to make sure we are in the right spots so that he has room to operate. … Overall, Giannis played an outstanding game. One of his best plays was the offensive rebound where he pretty much just jumped up, put his arms up Garrett Grayson Jersey , made a play that very few people in this league can make.”

Said teammate Thon Maker: “He showed that (takeover ability) tonight. He proved to himself he’s comfortable where he’s at. He’s humble, he knows what he’s capable of. He said it this morning that he’s going to take shots he’s comfortable with, not shots he don’t work on.”

Boston’s Marcus Morris, who took a knee to the thigh in Game 6, was asked if he thought the injury was serious. “Even if it was, you’d have to cut my leg off for me not to play (Saturday),” he said.

The New England Patriots signed wide receiver Jordan Matthews as they continue jumbling their corps of targets for Tom Brady.

Matthews Trent Taylor Jersey , 25, has played four NFL seasons, three with the Eagles and last season with the Bills (2017). In 56 NFL games with 42 starts, he has 250 receptions for 2,955 yards and 20 touchdowns.

He was a second-round draft pick (42nd overall) by Philadelphia in 2014 out of Vanderbilt. He was traded from Philadelphia to Buffalo along with a third-round draft pick last summer for cornerback Ronald Darby.

New England previously saw Danny Amendola leave for Miami as a free agent, and traded Brandin Cooks to the Rams for a first-round draft pick. The Patriots expect top receiver Julian Edelman to return from a knee injury that cost him the 2017 season.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix returned to Lambeau Field for Green Bay Packers minicamp after the safety cited personal issues for missing some voluntary offseason workouts.

Clinton-Dix said that the death of his godmother following a heart attack hit him hard. She was a school principal who played a formative role in Clinton-Dix’s upbringing.

”I learned everything. I learned the principles of being a young man, not taking anything for granted,” he said.

Having the opportunity to spend time with family meant a lot to him.

”But, you know LaAdrian Waddle Jersey , my family means everything to me,” Clinton-Dix said after practice Tuesday. ”If I have the opportunity to be home with them, I would love to be home with them.”

The safety’s absence during some voluntary workouts in May and early June was notable given that the Packers have a new defensive coordinator, Mike Pettine. A Pro Bowler in 2016, Clinton-Dix is part of the core of a defense hoping to improve following a lackluster 2017 season.

He’s also entering the option year of the rookie contract signed after being drafted in the first round in 2014 out of Alabama.

Asked why he missed some of the workouts, Clinton-Dix first said ”family issues,” then winked .

Asked if his absence wasn’t contract related, the fifth-year pro replied ”personal issues.”

Later, Clinton-Dix said he had no deadline to get a new deal done. He doesn’t sound like someone who plans to hold out Jermon Bushrod Jersey , either.

”What would it do, though?” Clinton-Dix said. ”You’re just wasting your time, really. You’re getting fined and fined and fined. I’m a guy that, I need my money, man. That’s why I’m here now. I need my money.”

Clinton-Dix was in Green Bay for three weeks at the start of the offseason program in April. He had his team-issued tablet computer the entire time while he was away to watch practices.

If there were any questions, Clinton-Dix would contact position coach Joe Whitt. A member of the coaching staff would get back to him with an answer, or send another video clip to help.

”Well, you guys can take attendance. It’s a mandatory minicamp, so things step up. But I feel really good Marcus Cannon Jersey , Ha Ha all the way through,” coach Mike McCarthy said. ”We’ve had change, we’ve transitioned through that.”

McCarthy followed recent tradition and excused 16 veterans with six or more years of experience from this week’s minicamp, including quarterback Aaron Rodgers. So practices this week can especially help rookies or younger players lower on the depth chart make impressions on the coaching staff.

Still, any time on the practice field with a player with Pro Bowl potential such as Clinton-Dix can help as the Packers hope to finish the offseason program strong before going on summer break.

”Scheme or not, all you’ve got to do is (say) `You’ve got this, you’ve got this’ and he’s going to go out there and play,” second-year cornerback Kevin King said. ”Playbook-wise, I’m not worried about that. Ha Ha is going to be Ha Ha.”

Always confident Jacquizz Rodgers Jersey , Clinton-Dix used word play when asked if minicamp was a time when he could play catch-up. Pettine’s scheme appears to play to Clinton-Dix’s strength and allow him to spend more time closer to the line of scrimmage, rather than 20 yards out.

”I love ketchup. Love it on my hot dogs, love it on my hamburgers and I love it on my fries,” Clinton-Dix said. ”Catch-up won’t be a problem.”

Chances are the Cow

Donovan Mitchell arrived at the arena wearing a white hoodie featuring the Mona Lisa. He left the court having authored a playoff masterpiece.

Even when the Jazz trailed in the first half Jonathan Cooper Jersey , Utah coach Quin Snyder reminded Mitchell what he was capable of accomplishing.

”We’re going to win this game and you’re going to go off,” Mitchell said his coach told him. ”When you got a coach telling you that, your mindset changes and maybe you don’t need to be nervous anymore.”

Mitchell scored 38 points and the Jazz held off the Oklahoma City Thunder 96-91 in Game 6 on Friday night to advance to the Western Conference semifinals.

Though the game got tight, Mitchell looked like he was having the time of his life.

”I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I smile through everything,” said Mitchell, the third rookie over last 35 years to have multiple 30-point games in a playoff series, joining Alonzo Mourning and Michael Jordan.

At one point, Mitchell made 10 straight shots.

”I was in a different mode. It was crazy,” Mitchell said.

Russell Westbrook had 46 points for the Thunder and Steven Adams added 19 points and 16 rebounds.

After the game, an agitated Westbrook confronted a fan and took a swipe at his arm before security whisked him to the locker room.

”I don’t confront fans. Fans confront me. Here in Utah, a lot of disrespectful, vulgar things are said to the players here,” Westbrook said. ”It’s just a disrespect to the game and needs to be brought up. I’m tired of just going out and playing and then fans say what the hell they want to say.”

The rookie and the MVP went back and forth in the second half, with Mitchell and the Jazz moving on to face the top-seeded Houston Rockets in a series that starts Sunday.

”For me, personally Kai Forbath Jersey , beating a guy I looked up to and I model my game after is special,” Mitchell said of Westbrook.

Derrick Favors scored 13 points and Rudy Gobert had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Jazz, who lost starting point guard Ricky Rubio to a left hamstring injury in the first quarter.

The Jazz took their biggest lead when Gobert hit two free throws to make it 86-73 with 7:04 remaining.

Westbrook’s 3-pointer capped an 18-6 run and drew Oklahoma City to 92-91 with 1:28 to play.

”We got stops and Russ made big play after big play,” Paul George said.

Favors hit a jumper for the Jazz but then the Thunder corralled five offensive rebounds in a frantic possession where Oklahoma City missed five shots. After a review, George faked Gobert into the air behind the 3-point line and leaned in but didn’t get the call and shot an airball.

”I think it could have been called both ways,” Gobert acknowledged.

Mitchell scampered down the court as the Thunder yelled at the officials and eventually made two free throws with 6.9 seconds left to clinch the game.

After struggling to score in the first two periods, the Jazz just gave the ball to Mitchell and set screen after screen to allow him to take advantage of Oklahoma City’s switching defense.

In the third quarter, Mitchell scored 22 points to boost the Jazz into a double-digit lead. The rookie scored on electrifying drives to the basket, spinning shots in the lane and rainbow 3-pointers.

”He’s been a team-first guy and sometimes the team needs a guy to take things on his shoulders. In the third quarter, obviously, he was dynamic,” Snyder said.

The arena, awash in gold as the Jazz wore their yellow jerseys and every fan was given a gold T-shirt, roared as Mitchell held his arms aloft and beckoned for more.

Mitchell picked up his fifth foul with 10:01 to play but returned to finish the game midway through the fourth quarter.

Seven minutes into the game, Rubio began limping and left the game.

”This group needed to rally around him. There was just no other way Landon Collins Jersey ,” Snyder said.

Facing a team without a true point guard, the Thunder extended their defense and disrupted Utah’s sets. The Jazz were shooting from unfamiliar spots and connected on just 39 percent in the first half.

Oklahoma City led by as many as nine before the Jazz tied it at 41 at halftime.

TIP-INS

Thunder: Jerami Grant made his first two 3-pointers of the series, the only Thunder player to make one besides Westbrook. … Other than a technical, the Thunder shot their first free throw with 6:36 left in the half. … George had a playoff-low five points.

Jazz: Gobert got a technical foul in the second quarter for complaining. … Favors went 1 for 7 from the free throw line and the Jazz shot 12 of 23 overall. … Mitchell joined Lew Alcindor as the only rookies to score 20 points in each of their first six career playoff games over the last 50 years. … Coming into the game, Mitchell and LeBron James shared the lead for most fourth-quarter points in the playoffs so far (44) but James had no points and Mitchell had six on Thursday.

RAPID-FIRE RUSS

Westbrook took 43 field goal attempts, with 19 coming from behind the line. Several ended up being airballs. Like Game 5, when Westbrook helped the Thunder overcome a 25-point deficit, the MVP said he wanted to do whatever he could to win the game. ”Every night, I leave it all out on the floor. Sometimes you come up short,” he said. ”I don’t really care what people think (about the number of shots he took).”

STAY READY

Alec Burks, who hadn’t played more than three minutes in a game during the series, scored 11 points for the Jazz in 17 minutes. Burks said, ”

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott recently said he doesn’t know “if any team in the league necessarily needs a No. 1 receiver.” He better hope the Cowboys don’t need one.

Dallas released Dez Bryant, leaving them minus a feature wideout.

Even in the two seasons Prescott played with Bryant, though Vonn Bell Jersey , Bryant never had a 1,000-yard season. In fact, Cole Beasley was the team’s leading receiver in 2016.

The Cowboys insist their lack of a No. 1 receiver is overblown.

“As far as this locker, to ourselves or in the meeting rooms, we don’t talk about that at all,” said receiver Allen Hurns, who signed with the Cowboys as a free agent. “The main thing for us is we come in and compete and try to earn our job. I feel like we’ve got a lot of guys who’ve got to come in and prove ourselves regardless. It’s motivation, but that’s not our main motivation. Our main motivation is to come in and be great. Me, I’m not coming off my best year. That’s the same with Beas. He didn’t have his best year last year. Same with TWill [Terrance Williams] and Tavon [Austin]. The list goes on. We’re not coming off our best year. Being young guys coming into the league, you’ve got something to prove. That’s not our main motivation, but it does add fuel to the fire.”

The Cowboys鈥?projected top-six receivers have one 1,000-yard season among them. Hurns, Deonte Thompson, Beasley, Williams Patrick Omameh Jersey , Noah Brown and third-round pick Michael Gallup have combined for 754 receptions for 9,692 yards and 65 touchdowns. (Austin, who will play receiver and running back, has 194 receptions for 1,689 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career.)

Chances are the Cowboys won’t have a 1,000-yard receiver for the fourth consecutive season. They have not had one since Bryant earned All-Pro honors with 1,320 receiving yards in 2014.

Prescott likes spreading the ball around and figures to do that again this season.

“Depending on what offense we’re in, a lot of people could be No. 1,” Beasley said. “It just depends on what you’re doing. You spread the ball around. It really doesn’t matter. Even with a No. 1, I feel like the balls should be spread anyway. We’ll see. I definitely don’t think it has to be like that, no.”

Teddy Bridgewater can’t help but smile these days.

Even through the sweat and exhaustion that mark the blazing hot days of training camp Joe Looney Jersey , the New York Jets quarterback still appreciates the little things about being a professional football player.

Because he almost wasn’t anymore.

“I get excited every day I get to get my ankles taped, lace my cleats up and run out of the locker room and practice because it was taken away from me for two years,” Bridgewater said after a recent practice.

“To be able to just wake up and know you have the opportunity to continue to do something that you love doing, it’s a great feeling.”

Bridgewater has the type of perspective few players ever get, or want to get, for that matter. He was able to come back from the type of injury that would end most playing careers.

But when the Jets open their preseason schedule Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons, Bridgewater will step on the field — and probably smile some more.

And then, he’ll get under center for what will likely be his most extensive game action in almost two years.

“Right now, I am doing everything I dreamed of doing and that is waking up and continuing to play football,” Bridgewater said. “It’s a wonderful feeling. It gives me the chills right now just thinking about it, knowing how the previous two years were. But you take advantage of this opportunity. I look forward to every day.

“Some people may say, ‘This is training camp. This is the grind of things, and I can’t wait to get to the regular season, things will be easier,” but I look forward to it. You embrace the grind because it was once taken from you.”

On Aug. 30 Pernell McPhee Jersey , 2016, the former Louisville star was practicing with the Minnesota Vikings when he went down with a non-contact injury. He tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and dislocated the knee joint, and it is believed that only quick work by the team training staff and doctors saved Bridgewater’s leg.

Playing football again didn’t seem likely, given the severity of the injury. But Bridgewater never gave up believing in a big-time comeback.

“Never, never,” he said. “I had nothing but positive thoughts. I didn’t allow any negativity to even creep into my circle. I knew that if I’m negative, I’m going to have those negative thoughts and it may hinder my progress.”

So, Bridgewater approached his recovery and arduous rehabilitation with the same type of determination.

He learned to move his leg again. And walk. Then, jog. And, now, run.

Bridgewater gradually regained strength in his knee and trusted that it would hold up when he dropped back to throw a pass.

On Dec. 17, 2017 — nearly 16 months after he went down in a heap of pain and uncertainty — Bridgewater walked onto the field at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis in the fourth quarter against Cincinnati. The fans gave him a standing ovation, and he went on to throw two passes in the Vikings’ 34-7 win, including one that was intercepted.

The stats didn’t matter. He had made it back.

Just as he always believed.

“I definitely feel like I’m good,” Bridgewater said of his health. “I’ve been working with the training staff here and we’ve been hitting it hard http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/lance-kendricks-jersey , and I’m excited. I’m looking forward to these upcoming preseason games and just getting out there and having fun playing football again.”

The Vikings moved on from Bridgewater during the offseason and allowed him to become a free agent. The Jets, with uncertainty at the quarterback position, signed him to a one-year deal.

The also brought back Josh McCown, the incumbent starter, and drafted Sam Darnold, the No. 3 overall pick out of USC who is considered the future of the franchise. Having them on the field with Bridgewater this summer has made for an intriguing quarterback competition.

“He has been a great team player, great in the meeting room and for the guys as well,” coach Todd Bowles said of Bridgewater. “I’ve got to say, this is the best three-quarterback combination room I’ve been around from a mental standpoint, so that is great to have.”

McCown is No. 1 on the depth chart, followed by Bridgewater and Darnold, and all three have had up-and-down moments on the field this summer. Off the field, all three quarterbacks have repeatedly talked about the camaraderie they have quickly established. And, there’s a ton of respect for Bridgewater willing himself to even get back to this point.

“Obviously, he’s had a long road recovery-wise from his knee Aaron Lynch Jersey , but his mind has been on football,” McCown said. “You can tell he’s sharp and I’ve been really impressed with everything he’s done. I think the future is really bright for Teddy. I’m excited for him.”

Bridgewater has been checking off milestones for most of the past 24 months. He’s not sure how long he’ll play Friday night, but whatever he does will be another positive.

The next goal on his list, though, is yet to be determined.

“I have to sit down and think about the next milestone,” Bridgewater said. “But for now, it’s just living in the moment, enjoying this opportunity and taking advantage of it.”

Ostensibly, Antonio Brown enjoys the trappings of fame. Specifically, the four-year, $68 million contract which made him the highest-paid receiver in the NFL has to be a nice consolation.

That contract came from the fact he’s one of the best players in the game, but he’s also one of the most entertaining, with an on-field style and social media presence that doesn’t exactly suggest a recluse.

But now he feels trapped.

“I can’t go nowhere and work out by myself, fans come meet me at the field 鈥?I can’t do nothing normal,” Brown said Troy Aikman Jersey , via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. “You guys write about me every day. My mom and my kids see it. So we have to deal with these type of things. I started to think to myself, am I really free? I can’t really express myself in this game. I can’t really tell you how I feel.

“You guys make the pressure to put pressure on me all the time. Am I really free? I got to asking myself that in regards to taking time away from my kids. . . . I had to get away to free my mind.”

Specifically, he seemed to take objection with people quoting him on something he said. When he was asked earlier this offseason about running back Le'Veon Bell‘s contract-related absence and any advice he’d offer from his own experience, Brown responded by saying: “You can’t make anything better without showing up, . . . Show up and get better and show guys you’re serious.”

But he said Tuesday he thought those quotes were misrepresented.

“You guys paint me a picture to talk about Le’Veon,” Brown said. “I’m not involved in Le’Veon’s business or his contract. You guys write about it and say, ‘Oh, AB says show up.’ I just said the first rule of getting better is showing up. I didn’t say show up. He’s got his own business.

“But that’s what I go back to referring 鈥?you guys put the pressure on me all the time in regards to life and regards to everything and we’re just supposed to take it. That ain’t freedom.”

Brown also took offense with the way the media put “pressure” on him by subjecting him to constant attention (I guess by acting as the conduit to the fans whose adoration makes his direct deposit as large as it is).

“That’s the pressure of being a professional athlete,” he said. “Everyday scrutiny, everyday pressure. It’s hard to be free.”

The struggle is real.

Mensagempor elaine95 » Qui Set 20, 2018 06:09

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been in the NFL long enough Star Lotulelei Jersey , and been with so many different teams, that the quarterback has plenty of experience of playing somewhere in a different uniform.

Coming back to Tennessee is a bit easier thanks to such a short stint with the Titans.

“When I was here, it was such a blur because really it was just a year,” Fitzpatrick said. “I’d just got released from Buffalo and was only here for a quick time. So they’ve done a really nice job with it. It’s almost unrecognizable with some of the stuff and how it’s changed so quickly.”

Fitzpatrick went 3-6 filling in for Jake Locker in 2013. That was three coaches and a handful of quarterbacks ago for Tennessee with Fitzpatrick with his third team since then.

Making the return visit more enjoyable is Fitzpatrick is expected to start a second straight preseason game Saturday night for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay will be without Jameis Winston for the first three games of the season, suspended after the NFL investigated an allegation Winston groped a female Uber driver in Arizona in March 2016.

Tennessee will start Marcus Mariota, the quarterback drafted No. 2 overall in 2015 after Tampa Bay selected Winston. Mariota is on his third head coach in Mike Vrabel, who will make his home debut Saturday night. Mariota is busy learning offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur’s offense and wants to follow up the touchdown drive he had in their opener at Green Bay.

“If we can go out there, operate at a high tempo, operate where everybody’s on the same page Jaylon Smith Jersey , we’re all communicating, being efficient, that will be definitely success,” Mariota said.

Elsewhere around the NFL, Jacksonville is at Minnesota, Oakland visits the Rams, Cincinnati is at Dallas, San Francisco visits Houston, Chicago is at Denver and Seattle is at the Chargers.

What to look for around the league Saturday:

JIMMY G AND DEANDRE

Jimmy Garoppolo’s exhibition debut lasted one drive with a few off-target passes and no points. He could get a little more time against Houston after two days of joint practices with the Texans showing him a different style of defense than he usually sees in practice.

“I think it was good. A lot of different looks that we’re not used to getting http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline.com/brian-quick-jersey ,” he said. “They run a different defense than what we’re used to so it got our guys thinking and I think we handled it very well.”

Houston star receiver DeAndre Hopkins missed most of the first of two practices with the 49ers after being kicked out for his role in a scuffle with Jimmie Ward. In his return, he reveled in competing against four-time Pro Bowler Richard Sherman and hopes to get more work in against him Saturday night.

“It’s always good to up against a veteran guy because he can tell your weaknesses, he’s going to tell you after what you need to work on,” Hopkins said. “So, going up against guys like that, it helps me stay on top of my game.”

HOLDOUT BOWL

When the Raiders return to their old home at the L.A. Coliseum for the first time in nearly 24 years to face the Rams in an exhibition game, both teams will have key pieces missing.

Oakland edge rusher Khalil Mack and Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald, the winners of the past two AP Defensive Player of the Year awards, both are staging contract holdouts as they seek lucrative long-term deals.

That gives both teams opportunities to see what kind of pass rush they can get without the two stars. The Raiders were pleased with the inside push rookies P.J. Hall and Maurice Hurst supplied in the exhibition opener against Detroit last week.

The game marks the Raiders’ first game at the Coliseum since losing 19-9 to Kansas City on Dec. 24 David Bakhtiari Jersey , 1994. The Raiders spent 13 seasons at the Coliseum before returning to Oakland in 1995, winning the Super Bowl following the 1983 season.

Rams coach Sean McVay is expected to hold out quarterback Jared Goff, running back Todd Gurley and most key playmakers for a second straight game.

COUSINS’ MINNESOTA DEBUT

The previous time the Vikings suited up at U.S. Bank Stadium, they beat the New Orleans Saints in their playoff game on Stefon Diggs‘ last-play touchdown catch from Case Keenum. Kirk Cousins watched that one from home, in awe and disbelief like everyone else, not yet knowing Minnesota was the place he would wind up.

Now Cousins, who signed a three-year, $84 million, fully guaranteed contract Bill Bates Jersey , will put on his new purple jersey in front of Minnesota’s fans for the first time. He is expected to play more than one series after being perfect in the Vikings’ exhibition opener last week at Denver.

“The little bit I’ve been there, it’s a great facility,” Cousins said. “I’m just so excited to hear the crowd and go through warmups and just get a feel for the game-day dynamic. I’m sure it’s going to be second to none in the NFL.”

LEFT BEHIND

The Jaguars will be without both cornerback Jalen Ramsey and defensive end Dante Fowler in Minnesota. Both were left at home for disciplinary reasons following a scrap between Fowler and defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. That ought to create more opportunities for rookie defensive end Taven Bryan, who was held out of the game against New Orleans last week because of an abdominal injury. Bryan was the 29th overall pick in the draft out of Florida.

DALTON HOMECOMING: COLLEGE VERSION

Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton gets another college version of his two Texas homecomings in Dallas.

The Houston-area native and former TCU standout threw for two touchdowns in the preseason debut of Cincinnati’s revamped offense, a 30-27 win over Chicago . It’s the third time Dal Denver Broncos defensive end Adam Gotsis has been charged with rape in Atlanta.

An incident report says a 30-year-old woman went to Atlanta police headquarters on Feb. 1 and told an investigator Gotsis had raped her on March 9, 2013. The woman said she went to a party with Gotsis and then he took her to his home and raped her.

The Broncos said in a statement Monday that they were aware of allegations of an incident that allegedly happened when Gotsis was in college. Gotsis played football at Georgia Tech.

The team says it takes accusations of this nature very seriously and will monitor the legal proceedings.

Police said Gotsis turned himself in March 7. Fulton County jail records show Gotsis was released that day on $50,000 bond.

When training camps open around the league next month http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/kevin-king-jersey , the NFL wants teams to be mindful of the spike in preseason concussions last year.

The NFL found that preseason concussions were up 73 percent from 2016 and that most of them occurred in 11-on-11 drills conducted in practices ahead of the first preseason games. The league is sharing data about each team’s concussions from last year in hopes that it will, per NFL executive vice president of health and safety initiatives Jeff Miller, “inform what clubs do.”

There is no change to the amount of 11-on-11 work that teams can do, but chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills has spoken to each team in hopes of seeing the number of concussions drop this summer.

“It’s not a matter of having five or six recidivistic clubs that we have to discipline into line,” Sills said Chase Roullier Jersey , via ESPN.com. “This is a leaguewide issue where everyone has to understand it’s on all of us to work on. It might sound trite to say, but any concussion we save is important to us. We want to put the awareness out there … and make sure we’re making it as safe as we can.”

Sills said that there is no medical reason to think the drills coming early in camp left players unprepared for contact. The focus is on “what behavior are you doing and how much are you doing of it” rather than when on the calendar it is being done.

Kirk Herbstreit will take Jon Gruden's place on ESPN's coverage of the NFL draft.

ESPN announced Thursday that Herbstreit will be part the opening night coverage of the first round in prime time on April 26 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Herbstreit will be joined by host Trey Wingo, draft analyst Mel Kiper and NFL analyst Louis Riddick.

Rounds two and three are April 27, and rounds four through seven are April 28.

Herbstreit is the lead analyst for ESPN's "Saturday Night College Football" and the "College GameDay" pregame show.

Gruden left his job as analyst on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" in January to return to coaching as head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Gruden joined ESPN in 2009 and has been part of draft coverage since 2010.

Herbstreit said he was approached by Lee Fitting John Riggins Jersey , ESPN vice president, college sports, about being part of draft night coverage.

"After we talked about my role, I was pumped up," Herbstreit told AP. "I'm going to stay in my lane and let Mel and Louis and Trey kind of say Brandon Scherff Jersey , 'Hey, the Broncos really need to do this.' I'll kind of be more of breaking down some of the prospects from a college football perspective. Once they told me I was doing that and not projecting ... I'm not into that at all."

Herbstreit has covered most of the players expected to be drafted in the first round, especially top quarterback prospects such as Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield, UCLA's Josh RoWhen training camps open around the league next month http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/kevin-king-jersey , the NFL wants teams to be mindful of the spike in preseason concussions last year.

Prosecutors will not bring criminal charges against Buffalo Bills receiver Zay Jones after a naked Preston Smith Jersey , bloody argument with his brother in Los Angeles earlier this week.

Los Angeles prosecutors declined the case because of ”insufficient evidence,” district attorney’s office spokesman Paul Eakins told The Associated Press on Thursday.

The 22-year-old Jones was arrested after officers were called to a disturbance in downtown Los Angeles, said police spokesman Luis Garcia. Jones was found ”breaking glass doors and windows” and arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism, Garcia said.

The arrest was first reported by TMZ, which posted a video showing a nude Zay Jones pushing his brother, Cayleb, in what appeared to be the hallway of an apartment building.

His agent, Zeke Sandhu, did not reply to text and voicemail messages. Sandhu also represents Cayleb Jones.

Cayleb Jones http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/stephen-hauschka-jersey , a Minnesota Vikings receiver, on Wednesday also posted a note on his Twitter account, which read: ”I am my brothers keeper.”

His father, Robert Jones, posted a note on his Twitter account on Wednesday saying his son ”is with me and his mom,” while adding ”he’s going to be fine!”

The Bills had no immediate comment.

Associated Press writer John Wawrow in Buffalo, New York, contributed to this report.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum said he has repaid a Minnesota electric utility $37,000 for tickets the company provided him and his wife for Sunday’s Super Bowl in Minneapolis.

The Republican governor on Wednesday said he reimbursed Xcel Energy ”to eliminate even the perception of any conflict.”

Burgum and first lady Kathryn Helgaas Burgum watched the game from a suite provided by Xcel La'el Collins Jersey , which serves more than 90,000 customers in Grand Forks, Fargo and Minot. He said before going that he planned to use the opportunity to talk with Xcel officials about their service and infrastructure in North Dakota.

The trip drew criticism even from within his own party.

”We can’t be doing that,” GOP Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner said. ”I don’t think the governor was influenced in any way but we as state officials just need to use good judgment.”

Burgum, in a statement, said the tickets ”have not influenced, and will not influence, my decision-making as governor. However, to eliminate even the perception of any conflict Dan Hampton Jersey , I have reimbursed Xcel Energy for the full cost of the tickets.”

Earlier Wednesday, his office said that an ethics policy was being written for the governor and his staff. But it was in progress before the governor was criticized over the Super Bowl, according to Burgum spokesman Mike Nowatzki.

”There wasn’t one in the governor’s office when we moved in,” Nowatzki said of an ethics policy. Burgum’s lawyer, Leslie Bakken Oliver, has been crafting such a policy for several months, the spokesman said.

”We don’t have a timeline” for when it will be done, Nowatzki said.

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton paid more than $6,000 for his own ticket to the Super Bowl.

Democratic House Minority Leader Corey Mock of Grand Forks said if anyone could make the case for getting a free ticket to the game it would have been Minnesota’s governor. Burgum Logan Thomas Jersey , a wealthy, former software executive, could afford his own, Mock said.

”That way, no one would question why you get to go to the biggest football game of the season at no cost,” he said.

During his campaign for governor, Burgum often talked about ”reinventing government,” shaking up the ”good old boy” party establishment and reining in ”runaway spending” as the state’s oil boom was fading.

New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins has been trying to keep his focus on football since the body of a 25-year-old friend was found in his New Jersey home last month.

Jenkins’ brother David Bakhtiari Jersey , William H. Jenkins, was charged with aggravated manslaughter days after the body of Roosevelt Rene was found in the football player’s Fair Lawn home on June 26.

Addressing the media on Sunday for the first time about the death, Jenkins said he has not spoken to his brother since he was arrested by New York State Police late last month. He reiterated that he was not in the house when Rene died.

”My main focus has always been football,” Jenkins said. ”Things that happened, I can’t control, because I wasn’t there. Just coming back, being with my team, just being excited to be there. … I haven’t talked to (his brother), but I will, see where his head was at, and as far as that, I’ll leave it at that. It’s shocking. But, you know, I’ve still got to come and play football.”

Janoris Jenkins, who is entering his third season with the Giants after signing a five-year, $62.5 million contract as a free agent, refused to say much else about the incident.

”It is difficult but at the end of the day you have to be a pro,” Janoris said. ”Things are going to happen in life. Some things you can’t control and this is one of those situations.”

Jenkins has been focused since the Giants starting practicing four days ago. He had an interception on the first day.

”It doesn’t make me feel like I am ready,” Jenkins said. ”It makes me feel like I am taking steps to being ready. Like, I said continuing to work, getting better and being there for my team.”

Like the Giants (3-13), Jenkins struggled last season. He was suspended for a game for violating team rules in late October and eventually had his season end in late November by an ankle injury that required surgery.

Jenkins said he spent the offseason strengthening his ankle and he is excited about the 3-4 defense that new coordinator James Bettcher has installed.

”It’s aggressive, lets players play a little and not be robots http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/christine-michael-sr-jersey ,” Jenkins said, adding he also has been impressed with the new business-like attitude that fellow cornerback Eli Apple has displayed so far.

Jenkins also is enjoying the opportunity to play against star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in practice every day.

”It just feels good because you know you can compete in practice against a top receiver,” said Jenkins, who has 16 interceptions in six seasons. ”Me and him going at it every day; he is going to win, I am going to win. He might win the whole day, I might win. But it is only getting us better.”

MINNESOTA VIKINGS (14-4)

OPEN CAMP: July 25 (rookies), July 28 (veterans), Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center, Eagan, Minnesota

LAST YEAR: Despite losing starting QB Sam Bradford after season opener and rookie RB Dalvin Cook in fourth game, both to knee injuries, Vikings rode backup QB Case Keenum and league-leading defense to second-most wins in franchise history. Beat Saints on last-second 61-yard TD pass from Keenum to WR Stefon Diggs in play dubbed ”Minneapolis Miracle,” before being trounced by Eagles in NFC championship game to miss chance of becoming NFL’s first Super Bowl host to play in game.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: Offensive coordinator John DeFilippo, QB Kirk Cousins, DT Sheldon Richardson, PK Daniel Carlson, CB/KR Mike Hughes, WR Kendall Wright, OG Tom Compton, QB Trevor Siemian, OT Brian O’Neill.

IMPORTANT LOSSES: Keenum, Bradford, RB Jerick McKinnon Ramon Humber Jersey , RG Joe Berger, WR Jarius Wright, DT Tom Johnson, DT Shamar Stephen, QB Teddy Bridgewater, OL Jeremiah Sirles.

CAMP NEEDS: Cousins must continue to build chemistry with Diggs, WR Adam Thielen, TE Kyle Rudolph and rest of receivers, but even more important is establishment of healthy line in front of him. RT Rashod Hill will be in spotlight after taking most of first-team reps in spring practices while Mike Remmers moved to RG, and C Pat Elflein has catching up to do with Cousins on cadence and calls; Elflein was out of team drills all offseason in recovery from shoulder, ankle injuries. Cook looks to step back in as starting tailback 10 months after ACL surgery. First-round draft pick Hughes will have opportunity to earn jobs as primary KR and nickel CB.

EXPECTATIONS: As high as ever, with fully guaranteed contract for Cousins and under-radar signing of Richardson to supplement one of league’s most stacked rosters. With Diggs, DE Danielle Hunter and LB Anthony Barr on expiring contracts and handful of defense’s stars nearing, at, or over 30, time is now for team’s first title. Repeating last year’s record won’t be easy, with questions remaining on offensive line, where Berger’s retirement created opening, and stiffer schedule that includes road trips to face Rams, Eagles, Patriots and Seahawks.

DETROIT LIONS (9-7)

OPEN CAMP: July 27, Allen Park, Michigan

LAST YEAR: Early and late-season slides knocked team out of playoff contention and cost coach Jim Caldwell job. QB Matthew Stafford led pass-dependent offense with 1 http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/markus-wheaton-jersey ,000-yard WRs Marvin Jones and Golden Tate. CB Darius Slay emerged as one of league’s best in coverage.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: Coach Matt Patricia, RB LeGarrette Blount, RB Kerryon Johnson, TE Luke Willson, C Frank Ragnow, DT Sylvester Williams, LB Christian Jones, LB Devon Kennard.

IMPORTANT LOSSES: Coach Jim Caldwell, TE Eric Ebron, DT Haloti Ngata, LB Tahir Whitehead.

CAMP NEEDS: Developing running game with two new backs and rookie center. Learning new defense with first-year head coach and new coordinator Paul Pasqualoni.

EXPECTATIONS: Making playoffs must be goal after firing coach coming off third winning season in four years. Third-year GM Bob Quinn wants team to become tougher, especially in short yardage and near goal line.

GREEN BAY PACKERS (7-9)

OPEN CAMP: July 26, Green Bay, Wisconsin

LAST YEAR: Finished under .500 and out of playoffs for first time since 2008. Offense struggled with QB Aaron Rodgers sidelined for seven games with broken collarbone. Defense plagued by porous secondary and lack of consistent pass rush. Injuries ravaged cornerback position again.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: GM Brian Gutekunst, offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, QB DeShone Kizer, TE Jimmy Graham, TE Marcedes Lewis, CB Tramon Williams, rookie CBs Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson, DL Muhammad Wilkerson.

IMPORTANT LOSSES: retired GM Ted Thompson, defensive coordinator Dom Capers La'el Collins Jersey , S Morgan Burnett, WR Jordy Nelson, G Jahri Evans, TE Richard Rodgers.

CAMP NEEDS: Find receiver to replace Nelson. Packers took three wideouts in middle rounds of draft, but returnees Geronimo Allison and Trevor Davis could have early edge. With Rodgers sidelined, Nelson’s production tailed off last year, and Packers let him go in offseason and brought in Graham to provide big target over middle. At their best, Rodgers and Nelson were one of top combos in league. Packers need to develop pass-rush depth behind Clay Matthews and Nick Perry, and hope that Alexander and Jackson can learn from Williams to help in coverage.

EXPECTATIONS: Packers are always threat as long as Rodgers is healthy. Last season served as painful lesson of what team needs to shore up defensive deficiencies that could be masked by their gifted quarterback. At worst, expect return to playoffs – assuming Rodgers is healthy – following offseason full of changes in Titletown.

CHICAGO BEARS (5-11)

OPEN CAMP: July 19, Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, Illinois

LAST YEAR: Bears finished last in NFC North for fourth straight year, then fired coach John Fox after three losing seasons. GM Ryan Pace got contract extension through 2021 and hired Andy Reid protege Matt Nagy as head coach, hoping he gets most out of QB Mitchell Trubisky. Wide receivers were big weakness, with Cameron Meredith (left knee) out for season and Kevin White (shoulder) missing most of it. Chicago’s leading receiver was Kendall Wright – now with Minnesota – with 59 receptions for 614 yards. Bears had formidable RB tandem with Jordan Howard (1,122 yards) and Tarik Cohen (370 yards rushing, 353 receiving), though Howard struggled to catch passes. Defense ranked 10th overall despite Melvin Frazier Jersey

Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said the ”overwhelming likelihood” is that the team will keep its No. 1 overall pick and not trade it away.

McDonough made the comment Friday after the first of what will be many pre-draft workouts of players on the Suns’ practice court.

The leading candidates for that No. 1 almost certainly will be worked out privately Sammy Baugh Jersey , with the exception of Luka Doncic, the European sensation who still is playing in Spain.

”Obviously the agents have a lot of say,” McDonough said. ”They have a strong voice in the process. They’re worried about injuries, which we understand is part of it. So we’d love them to come in and compete against the other top guys at their position. I think for the guys in the mix at No. 1 that’s going to be tough for us to put together.”

The Suns won the lottery for the first No. 1 pick in the franchise’s 50-year history. In the days that followed, McDonough said the team would be open to trading that pick. But that seemed less likely when he described the criteria such a deal would have to entail.

”It would have to be a young, proven star player with multiple years on his contract, multiple years of team control,” McDonough said. ”Once you start whittling down the list, that list probably shrinks to a handful of players if not fewer players than that. So I think the overwhelming likelihood is that we keep the pick. However, we’re open, if those teams call us or we call them. But as of now obviously we’re planning on keeping it.”

McDonough insists there are a few players in the mix, but the names at the top according to most observers are Doncic and Arizona’s Deandre Ayton.

Born and raised in the Bahamas, the 7-foot-1 Ayton played his one college season just down Interstate 10 at the University of Arizona, where he averaged 20.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.

McDonough said he believes questions about Ayton’s defense stem from the fact he had to play alongside another 7-footer, Dusan Ristic Pat McAfee Jersey , in college.

”So he was guarding away from the basket on the perimeter,” McDonough said. ”In the NBA, obviously, he’s a center. He’s a five. He slides well. He moves his feet well. He’s a tremendous athlete in terms of strength, fluidity, coordination, all of that.”

McDonough said Ayton ”has a high-level feel for the game, especially on the offensive end of the court. And from my experience guys who have that at the offensive end of the floor usually, in time, are able to translate that to the defensive end of the court as well.”

McDonough said he plans to try to get to Europe one more time to see Doncic.

”We’ve seen him play a lot,” McDonough said. ”I’ve personally seen him four or five times in the last seven or eight months, (assistant general manager) Pat Connelly’s seen him. Igor’s seen him more than anybody.”

New Suns coach Igor Kokoskov coached Doncic on the Slovenian national team that won the European championship last year.

McDonough was asked about the observation that Doncic lacks high-level athleticism. But the Suns GM noted that the young European guard is ”really, really big” – 6-foot-6 and weighs 218 pounds.

”Because he’s so skilled at that size and has such a good feel, I think you don’t realize on tape how big he is,” McDonough said. ”He’s able to jab and create his own shot. He’s able to lower his shoulder and create space to overpower defenders. He’s adept at getting to the free throw line. I don’t have any concerns with him physically.”

On Friday Andre Reed Jersey , the Suns worked out a group of guards, most of them four-year college players. They included Tra Holder from Arizona State.

The Suns also have the No. 16 pick overall in the draft and, in the second round, Nos. 30 and 59.

But that No. 1 pick is the big one, something neither the Suns nor McDonough have dealt with before.

”I think there are some drafts that you prefer not to have the No. 1 pick just because there isn’t a player worthy of that,” he said. ”I think in some ways you’re set up to fail in that scenario. This year we feel the opposite. We feel there are four or five players who in normal drafts would be in the mix for No. 1 if not be the No. 1 pick.

”We view that as a good problem to have. It’s a really talented draft. I think this will be one that you look back on historically and say that was one of the better drafts in the last decade. And it’s great to kick it off No. 1.”

Josh Gordon's troubled tenure with the Cleveland Browns has ended.

The team isn't going to help him any longer. He let them down for the final time.

The Browns announced Saturday night that it intends to release the former Pro Bowl wide receiver, whose immense talent has been overshadowed by substance abuse that has derailed a promising career.

The stunning news came just hours after the Browns said Gordon would miss Sunday's game in New Orleans with a mysterious hamstring injury. Gordon has been suspended by the NFL for most of the past four seasons because of multiple drug violations, and the Browns have been supportive of the 27-year-old for years as he tried to get his life together.

Not anymore.

"This afternoon we informed Josh Gordon and his representatives that we are going to release him on Monday," general manager John Dorsey said in a statement. "For the past six years, the Browns have fully supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally and wanted the best for him, but unfortunately we've reached a point where we feel it's best to part ways and move forward. We wish Josh well."

The team provided no specifics about what prompted their decision to part ways with Gordon. He reported to the team's headquarters earlier in the day, and spokesman said Gordon was evaluated by doctors and the decision was made to keep him home because of the hamstring.

Gordon posted a message on his Instagram account thanking the city of Cleveland.

"This place will always feel like home to me," Gordon said. "''I'm extremely honored and blessed to grow up and start a life amongst such a passionate and motivated group of individuals. It's been a hell of a journey with you guys. I wish all of you nothing but the best."

Gordon went on to thank the Browns "for having me. I'll never forget me time here. Same book, next chapter."

He ended the post with Pernell McPhee Jersey , "P.S. Anybody need a deep threat WR??"

It's unclear what his imminent release means for Gordon's playing future. Gordon was in the league's substance-abuse program and if he failed another drug test, he could be facing more discipline.

It's possible the Browns will try to trade Gordon before Monday so they can recoup something for a player whose has wasted his massive potential. If Cleveland releases Gordon, he'll be a free agent and can sign anywhere.

Losing Gordon is a major blow to Cleveland's offense. The Browns have receivers Jarvis Landry, rookie Antonio Callaway and Rashard Higgins, but none of them poses the same deep-field threat as the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Gordon who has breakaway speed.

The Browns have had negotiations with former Dallas star Dez Bryant, but the sides have not been able to work out a deal.

Gordon missed three weeks of training camp this summer to undergo counseling and treatment, and he recently said he was in a good place mentally and physically.

Gordon played in last week's season opener against Pittsburgh, his first appearance in a Week 1 game since 2012, when he was a rookie.

On Wednesday, Gordon, who played 69 snaps last week, said he was glad to have the opener behind him and was looking forward to playing the Saints.

"Physically I felt great," he said. "It was good to get that experience and that feeling underneath me, especially an overtime game Ibraheim Campbell Jersey , the weather and everything, the amount of snaps and reps, it's good for my body to feel that. I feel great now. I felt great during the game, it was just good to see that my motor was at a decent point at that late in the game."

Gordon was expected to have an expanded role this week against the Saints after being targeted just three times in a 21-21 tie against the Steelers. He caught a game-tying, 17-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, but was mostly used as a decoy.

Gordon started the opener despite coach Hue Jackson saying he wouldn't be on the field for the first snap as punishment for missing camp. Jackson blamed Gordon's appearance on the first play a "mistake" and "miscommunication," and Gordon said he was shocked to be on the field.

Jackson refused to elaborate on the situation this week, saying he and the coaching staff wanted to "move on."

Gordon emerged as one of pro football's most dynamic players in 2013, when he led the league with 1,646 yards receiving and scored nine touchdowns. However, he's been in a downward spiral since and Gordon by Commissioner Roger Goodell for the entire 2015 and 2016 seasons.

He sat out the first 11 games last year before returning for Cleveland's final five games, and caught 18 passes for 335 yards and one touchdown.

His teammates had been encouraged by Gordon's commitment to staying clean and turning his life around. Other than his unexpected absence from training camp, Gordon had been a solid teammate and there was hope he had finally turned the corner after so many setbacks.

The Browns selected Gordon in the 2012 supplemental draft despite his background of drug use in college.

AFC North champions spent three picks on offensive help duri

MINNEAPOLIS — Kevin Gausman has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal season for the Baltimore Orioles http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/tony-romo-jersey , who bring the worst record in baseball to Target Field on Saturday as they continue a four-game series with the Minnesota Twins.

Gausman takes the mound with a 2.76 ERA in his last five outings and is fresh off perhaps one of his best starts of the year. He held the Los Angeles to one run and two hits and didn’t walk a batter in eight innings on July 2 for his first victory since May 11 — a span of nine starts — and is now 4-6 with a 4.05 ERA this season.

“I felt like early on in the season, I kind of put together a little bit better of a month, but I feel like I’m throwing the ball well,” Gausman said. “I feel really good in my delivery O. J. Simpson Jersey , and ever since I went hands over the head,

“I feel like this has just been night and day, able to command the ball and really all my off-speed pitches. That’s the key word — consistency. You’re always trying to be the same guy every five days.”

Orioles manager Buck Showalter thinks Gausman’s success this season is overlooked in part because of the team’s record, but also because of the competition he has faced.

“I don’t chuckle or eye-roll or any of that stuff Quinton Dunbar Jersey ,” Showalter said. “When I hear people kind of negative, Kevin has cut his teeth in the American League East and he’s kind of a good hardened to it. This guy doesn’t dwell around too much on successes and failures.”

Success has been hard to come by for the Orioles lately and failure has been plentiful.

Baltimore’s loss Friday night in Minnesota extended its losing streak to four games. The Orioles have dropped 11 of their last 12 games and 22 of their last 27 overall while winning only two in their last seven series.

They’ll try to turn that around Saturday against Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson, who has been the poster child for lack of run support this season.

He has allowed more than three runs in a game just once since May 18 — a span of eight starts — but has taken the victory just twice. In the six other games, the Twins have averaged just 1.8 runs.

Gibson hasn’t let the tough luck get to him.

“We’ll start being on the right side of these games Matthias Farley Jersey ,” Gibson said. “We’ve just been running into some pitchers throwing the ball well and caught a couple tough breaks offensively.”

His last two starts haven’t been among his best. He allowed a season-high five runs and 11 hits against the White Sox on June 27 in Chicago and the Milwaukee Brewers followed by tagging him for four (three earned) in five innings earlier this week in Milwaukee.

Saturday will mark Gibson’s ninth career start against the Orioles. In the eight previous meetings, he’s 3-2 with a 5.06 ERA.

He faced them once already this season, throwing six no-hit innings with six strikeouts on March 31 in Baltimore.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will try to add some defensive depth over the final four rounds of the NFL draft.

The AFC North champions spent three picks on offensive help during the second and third rounds, taking wide receiver James Washington http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/jabaal-sheard-jersey , quarterback Mason Rudolph and offensive lineman Chukwuma Okorafor.

The Steelers still need help at inside linebacker with Ryan Shazier already ruled out for the 2018 season while he recovers from spinal surgery. They have two picks in the fifth round and another in the seventh.

Pittsburgh has been adept at finding diamonds in the rough late in the draft over the last decade.

The Steelers took All Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown in the sixth round in 2010, drafted starting inside linebacker Vince Williams in the sixth round in 2016 and special teams ace Tyler Matakevich in the seventh round in 2016.

Danielle Hunter evolved from situational pass rusher to full-time starter last season Clayton Geathers Jersey , and now he’s been rewarded for it.

The Vikings have agreed to terms on a contract extension for Hunter, NFL Network is reporting.

Hunter was the Vikings’ third-round draft pick in 2015, and he got plenty of playing time in his first two seasons and made his presence felt, recording six sacks as a rookie and leading the team with 12.5 sacks in his second season.

But last year was Hunter’s first year as a starter, and he started all 16 games and both postseason games. He played 78 percent of the Vikings’ defensive snaps.

Extending Hunter Andrew Luck Jersey , who had one year left on his rookie deal, was a top priority for the Vikings. The next priority is extending their other young pass rusher, Anthony Barr.

The NFL accused some lawyers representing players in the $1 billion concussion settlement of fraud and wants a special investigator appointed.

Plaintiffs' lawyers contend the league is not awarding settlement funds fast enough. So far, $227 million in claims have been awarded.

The league made its request Friday in U.S. District Court for Eastern Pennsylvania, saying that attorneys Jeff Heath Jersey , doctors and former players are attempting to cheat the program.

The NFL cited an independent study that recommended denying more than 400 claims because of fraud, including schemes by lawyers and medical personnel working with former players.

"We want to ensure that players and their families receive the benefits they deserve," league lawyer Brad Karp said. "Fraud threatens the integrity of the settlement and the prompt payment of legitimate claims."

Karp added that the appointment of a special investigator was "specifically contemplated" in the agreement, and would help identify "fraudulent claims and related misconduct." The motion seeks subpoena powers for the investigator.

The NFL alleges that the attempts to scheme the system are causing any delays in handing out funds. The league insists that each case be properly documented as worthy of payment.

An independent outfit handles approval of claims as part of the settlement, though the NFL can appeal claims it deems unworthy or deceitful. The motion cites a law firm advising former players as "willing to pay doctors directly out of their pocket" to get a qualifying diagnosis.

Christopher Seeger http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/christine-michael-sr-jersey , co-lead class counsel for the retired NFL players, agrees that the appointment of a special investigator is appropriate.

"However, we will not allow this small number of claims to be used as an excuse by the NFL to deny payment to legitimately injured former players," Seeger said. "Unlike other NFL benefits programs, this settlement is overseen by the court Denzelle Good Jersey , and the league cannot escape its responsibility. We will make sure that former NFL players and their families receive every benefit they are entitled to under this agreement."

U.S. Alpine director Patrick Riml is leaving his role after seven seasons and following a Winter Olympics in which the women’s side accounted for all three medals.

Riml joined the ski squad in 2001 and became the women’s coach two years later Aaron Lynch Jersey , helping with the development of Julia Mancuso and Lindsey Vonn. He left in 2008 to join Team Canada before returning to the U.S. in 2011 as Alpine director.

U.S. ski and snowboard chief of sport Luke Bodensteiner credited Riml with leading ”some of the most successful teams in our history.”

At the Pyeongchang Olympics, Mikaela Shiffrin earned a gold and silver, while Vonn captured a bronze. Riml called the men’s performance in South Korea ”disappointing” and acknowledged the team had to rebuild before the Beijing Games in 2022.

Marc-Andre Fleury goes into Saturday night’s game with back-to-back shutouts and an eye-popping .982 save percentage in the playoffs.

The Golden Knights scored four goals in the first 12 minutes Thursday night, matching the total number of goals that San Jose and goalie Martin Jones allowed in the entire series against Anaheim.

Vegas had seven different goal scorers and 11 players who ended up on the scoresheet, led by center Jonathan Marchessault (one goal, two assists). William Karlsson and Reilly Smith each chipped in with three assists.

“We had a laundry list of issues Josh Norman Jersey ,” DeBoer, who guided the Sharks to the Stanley Cup finals in 2016, said. “We weren’t good. They beat us. … (But) you don’t get extra points for winning by a touchdown like they did.”

A win on Saturday and San Jose still goes home with a split and home-ice advantage. However, that possibility became a whole lot tougher for the Sharks on late Friday afternoon.

The NHL’s Department of Player Safety suspended left winger Evander Kane for one game for a cross-check to the face of Pierre-Edouard Bellemare during a third-period scrum that resulted in Kane receiving a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

Kane had 14 points in 17 regular-season games after being acquired from the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 26. He had three goals and an assist in San Jose’s four-game sweep of Anaheim in the first round.

“It’s difficult, but it’s not http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/dean-lowry-jersey ,” DeBoer told the San Jose Mercury News on Friday before the suspension was announced. “It’s like an injury. If he’s out, it’s next man up and we’ll stick somebody else in there. It doesn’t change our preparation.”

Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said his team must guard against overconfidence after the lopsided win in the opener and continue its one-game-at-a-time approach that has proved to be so successful during their storybook first season.

“We just have to be ready to play the next game,” Gallant said. “We know San Jose is a good hockey club and that (7-0) is not going to happen again.

“They’re a great hockey team and we got some early goals on them and took advantage of that. They’ll be a lot better and hopefully we’ll be better, too.”

Injured star Evgeni Malkin was out of the Pittsburgh Penguins‘ lineup for Game 2 of their second-round series against the Washington Capitals.

Coach Mike Sullivan confirmed about two hours before Sunday’s puck drop that Malkin was out for the third consecutive game. Malkin appeared to injure his left leg in Game 5 of Pittsburgh’s first-round series against Philadelphia and has not played since.

”We’re a better team when Geno’s in our lineup Bennie Fowler III Jersey ,” Sullivan said. ”Having said that, I don’t think our team looks for any sort of excuses. I think we try to rally around one another. It’s a next-man-up attitude, we have capable people in our lineup, it provides opportunities for others to play a more significant role and they want to take advantage of those opportunities.”

Malkin’s continued absence affords a bigger role for centers Derick Brassard and Riley Sheahan, and Derrius Guice Jersey , combined with an upper-body injury to Carl Hagelin, keeps Carter Rowney and Dominik Simon in the lineup. On Saturday, it looked like Malkin could be ready to return; he participated in a full practice, skating on the fourth line and taking turns on the top power-play unit.

But Sullivan and Malkin both said the 31-year-old Russian would play only if he was ready from the first shift and was not limited to a minor role. Sullivan said Malkin did not experience a setback and could return for Game 3 in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

”It doesn’t matter who’s in the game. You just did need to win the game,” Washington coach Barry Trotz said. ”Obviously he’s a top player. There’s no question about it. It’s undeniable. But at the same time http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/jimmy-graham-jersey , it doesn’t really matter.”

Malkin had three goals and two assists in five first-round games. Without him, the Penguins eliminate the Flyers in Game 6 a week ago and erased a two-goal deficit Thursday to take a 1-0 series lead on the Capitals.

The potent Penguins power play misses an important piece without Malkin, though it only got two opportunities for a total of 2:32 in Game 1.

”It was limited time, so it’s hard to evaluate whether or not we were able to have success, with or without him Chuck Howley Jersey ,” Sullivan said. ”We have capable guys. The people we have are very capable of being successful. We just have to find ways to have success if given the opportunity.”

More NHL hockey: Benjamin Watson's agent says the veteran tight end has agreed to return to the New Orleans Saints.

Drew Rosenhaus tells The Associated Press in an email that Watson has agreed to a one-year contract with New Orleans, where he has posted some of his most impressive seasons of his 14-year career.

Watson posted career highs of 74 catches and 825 yards receiving with the Saints in 2015, the third and final year of his prior stint in New Orleans. He also tied a career high with six TDs that season.

He spent the past two years with Baltimore, but did not play in 2016 because of a right Achilles tear. He came back last season, playing in all 16 games and catching 61 passes for 522 yards and four TDs.

Watson began his career with New England Leonard Floyd Jersey , which made him a late-first-round draft choice out of Georgia in 2004.

The Buffalo Sabres have signed two-time Notre Dame leading scorer Andrew Oglevie to a two-year entry level contract.

Oglevie capped his college career on a top-ranked Fighting Irish team that lost the NCAA Tournament championship game to Minnesota Duluth last weekend. The forward was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team after scoring three goals and four assists in four games.

The 23-year-old from Fullerton http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline.com/paul-richardson-jersey , California, led the Irish with 15 goals and finished second on the team with 39 points last season.

Overall, the undrafted player finished with 41 goals and 48 assists for 89 points in 107 career games.

Oglevie will complete the spring term at school, before his contract kicks in for the start of next season.

This story has been corrected to reflect the Sabres announcing Oglevie’s contract is for two instead of three years.

More NHL hockey: No longer part of the Browns‘ plans, Cody Kessler got passed to a new team.

Cleveland traded its former starting quarterback to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Jeff Heath Jersey , the latest move for the Browns who have spent the offseason upgrading the team’s most troublesome position following a 0-16 season.

In exchange for Kessler, the Browns will receive a conditional 2019 seventh-round draft pick from the Jaguars, who were in the market to find a backup for starter Blake Bortles.

The 24-year-old Kessler had been in a steady slide down Cleveland’s depth chart after starting eight games as a rookie in 2016. But after the team acquired Tyrod Taylor from Buffalo, dealt DeShone Kizer to Green Bay and with the Browns expected to take a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft, there was no room for Kessler.

Last season Denico Autry Jersey , he entered training camp as the Browns’ starter but soon fell behind Kizer and Brock Osweiler and wound up being inactive for 10 games. He appeared in three games, completing 11 passes for 126 yards and was sacked six times.

Kessler’s tenure with the Browns began in mild controversy.

After the team passed on taking several other quarterbacks in the 2016 draft, Cleveland’s selection of Kessler in the third round drew criticism. Coach Hue Jackson tried to deflect the harsh assessments of Kessler by saying, ”Trust me” about the former Southern Cal standout.

Kessler wasn’t expected to get on the field as a rookie, but after injuries sidelined Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline.com/rob-kelley-jersey , he was thrust into action long before he was probably ready.

Kessler showed toughness and some potential by passing for 1,380 yards and six TDs. But he was sacked 21 times and it didn’t help that the Browns lacked playmakers to help him during a 1-15 season.

Jacksonville represents a fresh start for the likable Kessler.

”We are excited about the opportunity to add Cody as depth to our quarterback position,” said Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell. ”Despite being just 24 years old, Cody has already seen NFL game action and was very effective as a rookie in 2016, showing accuracy and efficiency in posting a quarterback rating of 90-plus.

”From our research and through getting to know Cody during the draft process Denzelle Good Jersey , we know he is a smart, tough and competitive young man and we expect him to be a great addition to our quarterback and offensive meeting rooms.”

Other teams have tried it Matthias Farley Jersey , so the Falcons have decided to charge for a thing that used to be free.

The team announced that their Sunday, July 29 practice would be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and that tickets for the camp practice would be $5.

They said in their release the proceeds would go to the “Atlanta Super Bowl host committee’s capital improvement project,” whatever that is. The Falcons’ release touts the availability to sample “its award-winning food and beverage experience,” (i.e. buy some consumable stuff) as well as other entertainment beyond a football practice.

Last year, the Panthers started charging for their Fan Fest practice (also $5 per ticket, and they said they were donating the proceeds to the team’s charitable foundation). The Buccaneers are limiting access to their camp, trying to use it as bait to get fans to buy season-ticket packages.

In the past, teams who charged for such practices opened the door for opposing scouts to sit in the crowd and take notes, but the league changed that policy in 2014. So now it’s not an issue of competitive advantage, it’s just about the money http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/blake-martinez-jersey , and how teams can pry more of it from their fans.

Bartolo Colon has long had two milestones on his mind. Now he has both of them in hand.

The 45-year-old right-hander overcame a sluggish start to earn his 245th major league win and match Dennis Martinez for the most by a pitcher from Latin America when the Texas Rangers beat the Chicago White Sox 13-4 on Saturday night.

Colon already had the most wins by a pitcher born in the Dominican Republic, having surpassed Hall of Famer Juan Marichal for that distinction with his 244th victory at Kansas City on June 18, six days before a loss at Minnesota. Colon won again Saturday in his first home start since June 6 to tie Martinez, who is from Nicaragua.

Asked if he was able to put all his achievements in perspective, Colon made it clear there were two that were especially important to him.

”Not every milestone,” he said through a translator. ”Marichal and Dennis Martinez, and I got those.”

The night was done for Colon (5-5) after Matt Davidson led off the sixth with a homer to center field that pulled the White Sox to 5-3. Four relievers closed it out for Texas.

”We want to be able, if he’s got an opportunity, to put the W behind his name to make sure he gets this,” manager Jeff Banister said. ”Obviously we want to win every game we possibly can, but a situation like this for him Matt Milano Jersey , and the overall history and his impact on the game, and impact on himself, and just what it means for the game of baseball.”

Joey Gallo and Ryan Rua homered for the Rangers, who won for the 11th time in 13 games and clinched their fifth consecutive series. Robinson Chirinos hit a three-run double in the fourth inning that put Texas ahead to stay.

White Sox lefty Carlos Rodon (1-3) allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Shin-Soo Choo, who has a major league-best on-base streak of 41 games, didn’t play for Texas because of right quad soreness. Choo said he has dealt with the issue for at least 10 days and it really bothered him recently.

Chicago’s first two batters got hits, though neither scored. Colon then threw 42 of his 79 pitches in the second inning, when he gave up three hits and his only two walks while the White Sox took a 2-0 lead.

”He’s kind of my half-hero,” Chicago manager Rick Renteria said. ”I told (pitching coach Don Cooper), look at that guy. He’s still out there getting after it. Good for him. … Even though he gave up a couple runs early, he just kept pitching. No panic Cheap Stacy McGee Jersey , no concern, just keep throwing strikes and let me see what happens.”

Affectionately nicknamed Big Sexy, the portly Colon retired 10 of 11 batters before Davidson went deep. Colon even got over to cover first base in time to get speedy Leury Garcia, who dove headfirst as the pitcher took a toss from Gallo to start the third. Colon had a grin on his face walking back to the mound.

”I thought that if I didn’t get the guy out, I was going out,” Colon said. ”So thanks that happened that he was out, so I could continue the game.”

SHORT HOPS

Three White Sox pitchers combined to throw 65 pitches in the eighth inning, when the Rangers scored seven times. The big hits were a two-run triple by Elvis Andrus and a two-run double by Jurickson Profar. … Adrian Beltre had two hits, increasing his career total to 3,107 – the most among active players and three shy of Dave Winfield for 20th all-time.

TRAINER’S ROOM

White Sox: 3B Yolmer Sanchez was back in the lineup after missing the series opener with a bruised left quad sustained when he collided with Minnesota 1B Logan Morrison on Thursday.

Rangers: Choo doesn’t think his quad issue is serious, but said he didn’t want to make anything worse. ”I know I have the streak going on Richard Dent Jersey , but my body and staying healthy is more important,” he said. … LHP Martin Perez (right elbow) allowed two singles in six scoreless innings in his second rehab start, throwing 73 pitches for Double-A Frisco.

UP NEXT

Rangers left-hander Cole Hamels (4-6, 3.61 ERA), one of the top starters potentially available before the July 31 trade deadline, pitches the series finale. Hamels has a 3.28 ERA over his last nine starts. He is 2-0 with a 2.86 ERA in four career starts against the White Sox.

Terry Rozier and Eric Bledsoe spent seven games trash-talking through the media and pretending not to know each other’s names.

When it was over Da'Ron Payne Jersey , they gave each other a quick hug – and a smile.

”Just respect,” Rozier said after scoring a career playoff high 26 points in Game 7 against Bledsoe’s Bucks on Saturday night to help the Celtics beat Milwaukee 112-96 and advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals for the second straight year.

”You’ve got two guys that want to win, two chippy guys, two short point guards,” Rozier said. ”We were just out there having fun. If it takes for us to go back and forth, jawing back and forth to battle, push each other, that’s just part of the game. We talked after the game, no stuff.”

Rozier added nine assists, Al Horford had 26 points and eight rebounds Charles Leno Jersey , and even Giannis Antetokounmpo tipped in a basket for the Celtics, who will meet the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round.

Game 1 is in Boston on Monday night.

”We’re going to have to play great,” said Celtics coach Brad Stevens, who was already without would-be starters Gordon Heyward and Kyrie Irving when Jaylen Brown left Saturday’s game with a hamstring injury. ”That’s just another thing. Somebody else is going to have to step up and play great. But we’ll get ready.”

Khris Middleton scored 32, Bledsoe had 23 and Antetokounmpo had 22 points and nine rebounds for the Bucks. Milwaukee has advanced from the first round of the playoffs just once since 1989, losing nine straight playoff series since Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson and Sam Cassell brought George Karl to the Eastern Conference finals in 2001.

Jayson Tatum added 20 points for the Celtics, who rode the home-court advantage to win all four games in Boston.

”Wasn’t able to win on the road, but we pushed the series to Game 7,” Antetokounmpo said. ”A lot of the guys in the locker room have never been in Game 7s. It’s a new experience. Now we know now what it takes to win a Game 7. You’ve got to come out Antonio Morrison Jersey , hit first.”

Playing in their NBA-record 31st Game 7, the Celtics improved to 20-4 at home and 23-8 overall in best-of-seven clinchers. It was the second Game 7 at the TD Garden this week, with the Boston Bruins beating the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night to advance in the NHL playoffs.

”It’s more than you can imagine, just a great feeling,” Horford said. ”Our fans really gave us that energy. This is why you work so hard in the regular season, to put yourself with home-court advantage.”

BLEDSOE AND BLEDSOE

When he was at Louisville, Rozier was compared to Bledsoe, who had left Kentucky a few years earlier. But the two did their best to work up a friendly hatred during the series.

It started when Rozier referred to his Bucks counterpart as ”Drew Bledsoe” – confusing him with the former New England Patriots quarterback. Since then, Bledsoe has pretended he doesn’t know who Rozier is.

Celtics fans joined in by chanting ”Who is Bledsoe!” in the first half. And during a fourth-quarter break, the scoreboard showed a video of Drew Bledsoe holding up one of his Patriots jerseys and proclaiming himself ”the original Bledsoe.”

”Man Oren Burks Jersey , that was special,” Rozier said. ”I don’t know who thought of that, but that was nice.”

FIRST HALF RUNS

Tatum had nine points in the first, when the Celtics scored 15 straight points – including a tip-in by Antetokounmpo into the Boston hoop – and 20 of the last 22 to end the quarter with a 30-17 lead. Milwaukee scored 11 in a row at the beginning of the second to make it a two-point game, but Boston answered with nine in a row to make it 41-30.

The Celtics led 50-42 at the half despite going 1-for-12 from 3-point range. Horford had 14 points and seven rebounds at the break, and Bledsoe had 12 points for the Bucks. But both Antetokounmpo and Bledsoe had three fouls at halftime.

Milwaukee cut the deficit to three points early in the third but Boston scored 11 of the last 15 points in the quarter. The Bucks never got within single digits in the fourth.

HAMMY TIME

Jaylen Brown limped off to the locker room late in the second quarter, then came out to test his sore right hamstring just before the start of the second half. But he left the floor and went back into the tunnel; after riding the stationary bike for a few minutes and getting checked out in the locker room, the team said he was available to return, but he did not.

”I was told that if we got in a pinch he could play,” Stevens said. ”I decided that’s not going to happen. With hamstrings – let’s see how he feels tomorrow.”

Brown said it was diagnosed as a Grade 1 sprain. He will have an MRI tomorrow.

”Whatever it takes. I wouldn’t miss this series for the world http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/tony-romo-jersey ,” he said, vowing to be back for Game 1. ”That’s my goal.”

Much to his surprise http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/quintin-demps-jersey , a $50 act of kindness made Arizona Cardinals tight end Jermaine Gresham an internet hero.

"It was crazy," he said after the Cardinals went through voluntary workouts Tuesday. "I really wasn't expecting it."

It all started when Gresham was standing in line behind Delilah Cassidy at an American Airlines gate at Los Angeles International Airport.

He could hear her being told that under the airline's policy, she had to pay $25 for each of two carry-ons that wouldn't fit under her seat. She had cash but it wasn't accepted at the gate so she was in danger of missing her flight. So Gresham pulled out his credit card and paid, a random act of kindness.

"That's pretty much what it was," he said. "I hope anyone would have done that. I don't know. I just felt that's how I was raised, my core values. Somebody in distress, just help them out. Nothing more, nothing less."

To say Cassidy was grateful is an understatement.

"She was very nice," Gresham said. "She was very, very, very appreciative. She thanked me I want to say maybe 20 times."

She told azcentral that she was in tears as she boarded the plane.

"I gave him this huge hug," she said. "I was crying into Jermaine Gresham. I didn't know it was him."

Cassidy said that when they landed, she offered to pay him in cash but he declined and told her to pay it forward.

She had her photo taken with Gresham and told her story on Twitter.

It went viral.

Gresham had no idea until he heard from a Cardinals employee who follows such things.

"He said, 'You're a viral sensation,' I said Eddie Jackson Jersey , 'For what? I didn't get arrested,'" Gresham said. "He sent me this picture and everything and I was like, 'Oh, wow.'"

He seemed surprised that what he considered a small gesture wound up being such a big deal.

"I was right there," he said. "I had my wallet in my pocket. Just here, swipe my card. It's 50 bucks. Catch your flight. There wasn't much to it."

Gresham, who is recovering from Achilles tendon surgery, said he made a great investment.

"I hope everybody in the world would do something like that," Gresham said. "Seeing her smile and her appreciation was worth it 10 times over."

Of course he couldn't escape some gentle ribbing from teammates.

"That's the Walter Payton Man of the Year right there," offensive tackle D.J. Humphries said as he walked by.

KIRK SPEAKS: Rookie wide receiver Christian Kirk spoke to reporters for the first time since reports surfaced of his Feb. 3 arrest outside the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament on charges of destruction of property and disorderly conduct. He and a friend had been accused of throwing rocks at cars. Police said Kirk appeared intoxicated at the time.

The charges were later dropped.

"Obviously there was a negative response to it," Kirk, a second-round draft pick out of Texas A&M, said of the publicity surrounding the incident. "But you've just got to block those things out and hold true to who you are and move on."

Kirk was a top high school prospect born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Cardinals said they knew of the arrest when they drafted him but said they were confident it was not indicative of a larger problem.

"I told them the truth and they trusted in me, trusted in the type of person I was http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/clay-matthews-jersey ," he said.

Now it's back to football on a team where he figures to play a significant role.

"I'm just really happy it's all cleared up," Kirk said. "I'm just glad to be back and showing people I am what I am."

— Antonio Callaway didn’t take long to run into trouble with the Browns.

The fourth-round draft pick and wide receiver from Florida, who arrived in Cleveland with a history of issues while in college, was cited early Sunday morning for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license.

According to a report by police in Strongsville, Ohio, Callaway was pulled over in his car after he failed to yield to on oncoming traffic. Police found a “small amount” of marijuana and cited Callaway, who was stopped on a day off for Cleveland’s players at training camp.

To make matters worse, Callaway didn’t inform the Browns of his legal matter.

“I am surprised at this,” coach Hue Jackson said following Tuesday’s practice. “He has been great. We have had no slipups, no issues. This is a young player, who obviously made a bad decision or bad choice. I have to find out. Believe me, when we find out more of the facts, I will tell you straight out, exactly what it is when I know.”

The Browns selected Callaway in this year’s draft despite his checkered past. He was suspended last season for involvement in a credit card fraud case, and he provided a diluted urine sample at the NFL combine in February.

That offense caused teams to stay away from him Joel Iyiegbuniwe Jersey , not the Browns.

In April, general manager John Dorsey said the team had “done extensive background” checks on Callaway. At the time, Dorsey, who joined the Browns in December, felt assured that Jackson and receivers coach Adam Henry would be able to mold him and keep him out of trouble.

“I’m still confident in that,” Jackson said. “I think what John said is absolutely right and I support him 100 percent. We’ve been fortunate over the last couple of years where we haven’t had things crop up.

“I truly believe in our process and how we go about it and how we talk about things. So, again, this is something I’m glad is happening now so we can deal with it and move forward. I think our locker room understands how we handle business. This young man will definitely understand how we handle business, too.”

Jackson said he wants to learn more about Callaway’s situation before commenting on whether the team will discipline the 21-year-old. Jackson said he has spoken to Callaway “quite a bit” about his behavior.

“This is surprising to me,” he said. “He is a young guy. Here is something that had happened and we have to deal with it. To understand it first, before I talk about consequences or anything, is important.”

Callaway was already in Stage 1 of the league’s abuse program because of his diluted sample. He could be subject to a fine because of this infraction.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said, “The matter will be reviewed under the NFL-NFLPA substances of abuse policy.”

Callaway’s off the field problems at Florida were extensive.

In 2017, he was cited for marijuana possession as a passenger in a car driven by a known felon. Callaway pleaded no contest to possession of drug paraphernalia and was fined.

A year earlier, he was accused of sexual assault Eric Kush Jersey , prompting the university to suspend him while the incident was investigated. Callaway eventually was found not responsible during a student code of conduct hearing, but he acknowledged under oath he was high on marijuana at the time of the alleged assault.

Callaway’s driving infraction came hours before the Browns traded disappointing wide receiver Corey Coleman to Buffalo. That move caused the team to elevate Callaway, who has had an impressive training camp, into the starting lineup before Thursday’s exhibition opener at the New York Giants.

The Browns released a statement saying they were aware of Callaway’s citation and “are in the process of gathering more information and will comment further at the appropriate time.”

And while they’re dealing with Callaway, the Browns are still waiting for former All-Pro Josh Gordon, who is away from the team to deal with health issues. Gordon has been suspended multiple times by the NFL for violations of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Jackson said he still doesn’t know when Gordon will return.

“Josh is still doing what he needs to do,” Jackson said. “And again, he will be back at some point in time.”

Because of Gordon’s situation and the lack of experienced receiving depth, the Browns have also considered signing free agent receiver Dez Bryant, the former Pro Bowler released earlier this year by Dallas.

LAKE FOREST Adam Vinatieri Jersey , Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith could be the exception to an unwritten NFL preseason rule.

The team’s first-round draft pick could become one of the few key players who actually appear in Chicago’s fifth and final preseason game Thursday against Buffalo.

NFL teams usually rest starters and key players in the last preseason game as they gear practices toward the regular-season opener. But Smith held out 29 days before signing his contract and has had just six practices. He’s missed practice time this week with left hamstring tightness, making it unlikely he will play Saturday against Kansas City.

Getting Smith into the final preseason game would serve a purpose.

“I think his situation is a little bit different because he hasn’t had the playing time,” coach Matt Nagy said after Thursday’s practice. “I think what we’ll do is we’ll monitor where he’s at as far as his health, and if we feel like it’s safe to get him reps (Thursday), which he obviously needs, then we’ll do that. If we think it’s not safe, then we’re not going to do it.”

Smith did not practice Tuesday because of the hamstring, and then practiced only on a limited basis and not during team scrimmages on Wednesday and Thursday.

Nagy stopped just short of saying Smith would not play in Saturday’s noon game.

“I’m not gonna say that, but I would say right now it’s Jim McMahon Jersey , with him not being out here full go the last two days, it’s been a little more (than) a little tough,” Nagy said.

The Bears open the regular season Sept. 9 in a Sunday night game at Green Bay, and the goal is to have Smith ready for that game regardless of whether he plays in the preseason.

“You have to be so careful with those injuries because all of a sudden you think you’re good, and then you put somebody in, and then it compounds it,” Nagy said. “We want to stay away from the compounded injuries.”

Smith is not worried about the effect missing so much practice time and preseason games could have on his play.

“I feel very comfortable in myself and my abilities,” Smith said. “So whenever coach feels it’s right for me to get out there, then it’ll be that.”

PHOENIX (AP) — On the eve of their season opener Demarcus Lawrence Jersey , the Arizona Cardinals have signed star running back David Johnson to a three-year contract extension.

Johnson, who led the NFL in yards from scrimmage and touchdowns two seasons ago but missed all but one game a year ago with a fractured left wrist, had held out during the team’s minicamp but expressed optimism during training camp that a deal would get done.

The contract, announced by the team in a news release Saturday night, runs through the 2021 season. Arizona opens its season at home against the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

Johnson was drafted in the third round out of Northern Iowa in 2016 and figures to be the centerpiece of the offense under new coach Steve Wilks, who wants to emphasize a power running game.

Johnson also is a gifted receiver and has set a goal of 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 receiving.

Two years ago, the dynamic running back rushed for 1 Oren Burks Jersey ,239 yards and caught 80 passes for 879 yards. He scored 20 touchdowns, 16 rushing and four receiving, earning first-team All-Pro honors.

In that breakout year, Johnson became the first player in NFL history to top 100 yards from scrimmage in each of the first 15 games of the season and may have done it in the 16th had he not injured a knee.

The injury in last season’s opener wiped out the rest of the 2017 and, Johnson acknowledged, reduced his leverage in his hope for a new contract. Johnson would have become a free agent at the end of this season.

The NBA leads the way in men’s professional sports when it comes to racial and gender hiring practices, according to a diversity report released Tuesday.

The league earned an A for racial hiring practices and a B for gender hiring practices for an overall grade of an A. That keeps the NBA ”significantly above” other professional sports, according to Richard Lapchick, the report’s author and the director of The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport.

”The NBA remains the industry leader among men’s sports for racial and gender hiring practices even with the increased grading scales introduced last season http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/quincy-wilson-jersey ,” Lapchick said.

The report states that the NBA league office has the best record for people of color in men’s professional sports at a 36.4 percent (357 of 980) employment rate.

The league, which was first to have three team owners who are people of color, had seven women who served as team presidents/CEOs during the 2017-2018 season – the highest among men’s professional sports.

The report states there are also more NBA general managers and head coaches of color than in the past.

The general managers who are people of color doubled last season from 10 percent (3 of 30) to 20 percent (6 of 30), which puts the NBA well ahead of other men’s sports leagues.

That’s a big positive, Lapchick said.

Nine of 30 NBA head coaches were people of color last season. But following changes at the end of this past season, one-third (10 of 30) of all NBA head coaches are now people of color.

The same trend has trickled down to the assistant coach level, where the percentage of people of color increased from 45.4 percent (74 of 163) in 2016-2017 to 45.7 percent (79 of 173) this past season.

Likewise, there was an increase in the percentage of people of color as vice presidents at the team level, increasing to 25.4 percent (148 of 583) this past season Jamaal Williams Jersey , up nearly six percent (86 of 442) from the previous season.

Lapchick also said that in two of the other categories that were reclassified – team management and team professional staff – the percentage of people of color increased significantly from 23.4 percent (174 of 744) to 31.2 percent (771 of 2,469) and from 32.6 percent (976 of 2,997) to 39.5 percent (1,135 of 2,871), respectively.

Lapchick had some concerns when it comes to gender hiring at the team level, a category which dropped for the third straight year.

The percentage of women decreased for team vice presidents and team professional staff. Women who held team vice president positions made up 23.5 percent (137 of 583), a slight decrease from last year’s study. The percentage of women in team professional staff positions decreased by 2.9 percentage points from 40.1 percent (1,202 of 2 http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/joe-haeg-jersey ,997) in to 37.2 percent (1,068 of 2,871).

”It’s something we are keeping an eye on,” Lapchick said. ”In men’s sports in general gender hiring is a major concern.”

However, Lapchick said the NBA still outpaces other leagues in gender hiring.

Despite those slight drop-offs in gender hiring, Lapchick called Commissioner Adam Silver and the NBA the ”industry leaders” among all men’s professional sports leagues in overall racial and gender hiring practices.

Não sei onde este tópico se encaixaria. Então me desculpem.
Eu não entendi essa passagem, alguém pode me explicar?
2n \geq n+1 ,\forall n \in\aleph*
O livro explica da seguinte forma.
1°) P(1) é verdadeira, pois 2.1 \geq 1+1
2°) Admitamos que P(k), k \in \aleph*, seja verdadeira:
2k \geq k+1 (hipótese da indução)
e provemos que 2(k+1) \geq (K+1)+1
Temos: (Nessa parte)
2(k+1) = 2k+2 \geq (k+1)+2 > (k+1)+1

Boa noite Fontelles.

Não sei se você está familiarizado com o Princípio da Indução Finita, portanto vou tentar explicar aqui.

Ele dá uma equação, no caso:

2n \geq n+1, \forall n \in \aleph^{*}

\mbox{Suponhamos que P(k), }k \in \aleph^{*},\mbox{ seja verdadeiro:}
2k \geq k+1

\mbox{Vamos provar que:}
2(k+1) \geq (k+1)+1

O livro do Iezzi, Matemática Elementar vol. 1 não está tão bom.

Boa tarde Fontelles!

Ainda não estou certo de qual é a sua dúvida, mas tentarei novamente.

O que temos que provar é isso: 2(k+1) \geq (k+1)+1, certo? O autor começou do primeiro membro:

2(k+1)= 2k+2

Isso é verdadeiro, certo? Ele apenas aplicou a distributiva. Depois, partiu para uma desigualdade:

2k+2 \geq (k+1)+2

Que é outra verdade. Agora, com certeza:

(k+1)+2 > (k+1)+1

Agora, como 2(k+1) é \geq a (k+1)+2, e este por sua vez é sempre > que (k+1)+1, logo:

2(k+1) \geq (k+1)+1 \quad \mbox{(c.q.d)}
